Christmas is Coming...

Our preparations for Christmas continue and I am in full crafting mode.  Having sifted through the decorations that we brought with us we earmarked some bits and pieces that we wouldn't use - one of which was a string of artificial berries which I decided to turn into a wreath with some ribbon and some of the small fir cones that I picked up from the trees at the back of the house.

Using my trusty glue-gun (which is on its way out unfortunately) I managed to make what I wanted and it got a 'paws-up' from Minnie-Mou who gave it a good old sniffing when I had finished!

Although we brought plenty of Christmas decorations with us both John and I have always been suckers for something new and when we went to the Christmas Market on Sunday evening we fell for this quirky snowman which will sit on the mantlepiece - at €2 it was never going to break the bank.

John also took a shine to a berry and twig wreath which he and Dad thought would look really nice on our big wooden gate and this one also got a 'paws-up' from both Chivers and Minnie-Mou who are just the nosiest kittens you have ever seen!!

We had a further reminder of the festive season when John found a robin sitting on one of the doors which joins our two buildings - we reckon it was a bit confused because the doors wouldn't have been there when he came last year and he couldnt work out that he needed to fly up and over them.  Worried that the robin was going to get exhausted trying to find a way out John gently picked him up and took him round the door so that it could fly away to safety.

We have also had a trial run at decorating our little artificial Christmas tree - we had it up on the kitchen work surface and whilst we were doing it the gruesome twosome didn't take any notice.

I dont think we are going to be so lucky when it goes up properly I wonder how many baubles we are going to find strewn across the lounge carpet on Christmas Day???   They are getting their own little stockings which we hope will provide enough of a distraction for them to leave the tree alone - although somehow I doubt it!!!

The towns and villages in Cyprus itself are getting ready for Christmas too although after spending many Christmas's here we still find it quite random seeing Santa in his sleigh in full sunshine - but actually rather that than rain or fog which seems to be what the UK is enduring at the moment!
