Six Months Completed...

So today being November 1st we have completed six months here in Cyprus - where on earth has that time gone????  We seem to have been here forever and done so much and we absolutely love it - which is just as well really!!

We spent a very nervous morning waiting for news of Minnie - Irene was going down with another cat today and was going to check on progress.  She text to say that although still very poorly Minnie was on a drip and had eaten a little more than she had previously and seemed to be responding to the TLC at the vets.  Time will tell but at least she is in the best place.

In the meantime Chivers is enjoying having the place back to himself - last night the pink pompom got it and John got up this morning and went into the kitchen to find it covered in pink fluff.  I had to make a hasty replacement as he liked to have a go on the pompom and then use the scratching post (which is better than using the furniture!).  I cut up an old suntop and left some ties hanging down for him to play with.  He has initially given it a stiff ignoring - bless him!!  We are keeping a close eye on Chivers health to make sure that he hasnt been affected by Minnie's very contagious flu.  It looks like his vaccination has done the job so far - at the moment he is bouncing round the lounge and taking a bite at creases in his blanket - for some reason he hates creases in material.

We had no water again this morning.  For the past 6 days we have had a very very sporadic supply - initially because they were connecting up the water in the field next door and then apparently because there was a 'problema' in Kritou Tera.  We were getting a bit desperate as we had visitors due in the afternoon and we had washing up backed up nearly to Polis and loos that we were reluctant to flush (nice).  John phoned the community office again this morning to be assured that it would ge back by lunchtime but fortunately within half an hour of the call we could hear it begin to splutter through the tap - it tastes odd though but at least we have it.

It may be the first of November but the weather remains warm and bright during the day.  At 10:36 this morning the weather station was showing 28.3 degrees so John took the opportunity to have an outside shower - he it determined to do so for as long as he is able.  The shower was preceeded by a haircut - back to a number one again!

Now that the days are cooling and getting shorter and we have almost finished having visitors (except for Hilary who is staying for a couple of days next week and who is more like family than a visitor) John is getting back into DIY mode so we shot down into Polis to order some wood so that he could begin some of the jobs on his list.

Whilst in the woodyard I called into the furniture shop next door and bought a rug for the bedroom so that Mum and Dad wont get cold feet when they come to stay - until they do come to stay we have pinched it for our room but we will give it up for Hilary if she needs it!!

I took the opportunity in the afternoon to sit outside and try and read my book - the only trouble was that Chivers had his own ideas and wanted to read my book for himself!!!

We were expecting Trish, Alan, their son Michael (owner of the renowned Vennel's Cafe, Durham) and Mum and Dad at around 3.00pm but true to form Trish and Alan had wandered into Paphos without a watch and totally forgotten the time we had arranged and so they eventually pitched up at about 4:15pm!!! Not to worry though because we didnt have much planned except to have tea and stickies and a look around our home before we all went to the Farmyard Taverna in Kathikas for their mid-week buffet supper.

John ensured that the house was absolutely bouncing with both the gas fire and the super-ser lit to the max!

We enjoyed a good old chin-wag and some excellent cakes from the cakeshop together with the last of the special almond sweets and dried grapes which Galadia had given me.

It was almost an effort to go out into the cool evening to head down to Kathikas for supper but we did and found that it was a very popular venue. It was lovely and warm inside and there was plenty of food to chose from.

All in all a very nice evening - and thanks to Trish, Alan and Michael for paying for our supper - it was very kind of them and they have now been completely let off from arriving late!
