Back to Normal...

It is lovely to have guests but afterwards it is equally lovely to get back to normal because we know that we have to get back to normal (in terms of food and drink if nothing else!!)  Debra's five days with us was lovely and, although I have never spent time on holiday with her before, flew by and was easy.  She has been in touch to say that she got back safely to a very cold and very wet UK and is planning a return visit!

Our very lazy day started with a Debra sized lie-in as I didn't wake until gone 9.00am and only then because my bladder was calling and Chivers had been asleep on my feet for hours and they were roasting.  It was, outside, a beautiful day but hot hot hot so we were all flagging a bit.  Minnie Mou had been missing throughout the night and didn't come in for breakfast - she is struggling with the heat and looks for cool wherever she can find it.

We eased our way into the day with a bit of gentle catch up TV and then had a text message from our neighbours to say they would be around later today so John went across into their garden to give their pool a bit of a clean, put in some chemicals and sort out the pool light.  Whilst he was doing that I had a tidy up and stripped the guest bed and got the sheets in the wash - deep joy that means ironing!!

Although it was going to be a quiet day we took a quick look around the garden and saw that some of the shrubs needed a bit of a prune so we sorted them out.  Debra very kindly left us some money to get something for the garden.  We want to get a really nice pot on a stand for the asparagus fern that Mum gave us so we will be going to the nursery in the week to check out what they have got.

Our neighbours arrived and we were invited for coffee and to meet Theodora's mother who is with them as they are off to a wedding this evening at Anarita.  Chivers is now very used to them as he saunters into their garden as if it was his own - well we did find him there after all!

We left our neighbours to go and get ready and decided to take a little walk into the village and have a drink before coming back for some tea.  We had a quiet drink accompanied by some fresh pecan nuts and a little Greek lesson.  Once again there were a couple of tables of holidaymakers having a meal.  Peace was somewhat shattered by a wedding in Inea as the happy couple and the wedding entourage came racing through the village with horns blaring!

I can't imagine we will be having too late a night tonight - Mum and Dad are here tomorrow and we are watching the Wimbledon final - It would be nice to think that Murray might just do it and if he doesn't then Marray in the doubles might!
