Our 21st Wedding Anniversary...

We have just celebrated our 21st Wedding Anniversary and John will be lucky if we reach our 22nd because my lovely husband removed the card from my camera and forgot to put it back so when we went out last night I went to take some photographs and - nothing - zip - nada.  Well can you imagine?  It is like having my right arm cut off if I don't have my camera - he has a lot of grovelling to do I can tell you.

So our wedding anniversary then... We woke up at Wendy and Bill's to yet another hot hot day and decided to slip out early and take advantage of the pool early in the morning to cool us down.  Having crept out so as not to disturb Wendy and Bill we realised we had shut the door and wouldn't be able to get back in!!  Fortunately both Wendy and Bill rose early and came and joined us.  We were all a little jaded - not as young as we used to be or rather not as young as we like to think we are!!

We set off after breakfast and returned to Droushia to find Mum and Dad well settled and both cats well looked after.  First stop was the pool with Mum - unusually for Droushia there was no breeze making it a very warm day!  Mum and Dad seemed to have quite enjoyed themselves and it was such a weight off our minds for us to be able to leave the cats overnight.  We know we are being totally over the top protective but we cant help it!

John and I don't really do birthdays and anniversaries but I would like to think that on this occasion John had specially organised the clearing of the shit-tip that Angela's builders had made.  We were delighted to hear the sound of a little Cat digger chuntering up and down removing the accumulated detritus. Now that you can see the wood for the trees or rather Villa 3B from the mound of rubble outside it makes a huge difference.  Angela must be spending a fortune but at long last I can see that it is paying off - although John and my opinions differ I think she is going to end up with rather a stunning holiday home.  It's amazing what can be achieved with these properties if you can look past the neglect that many of them have suffered!  We are keeping our ears to the ground regarding the ones across the road where the builder went bust - we just keep thinking that at some point there is a bargain to be had!!

Our Anniversary meal was being spent at the Monasteroui in Kallepia - we have been wanting to go since the spring when we saw it being advertised.  We went to check it out in February when Vix was with us but it was closed for the winter.  As you know I wasn't able to take any photographs so you will have to take my word for what it was like!!!  Wendy and Bill were coming along to (a) help celebrate our anniversary (b) meet up with Mum and Dad and (c) say goodbye as it would be the last time we would see them before they go home on Tuesday.  Our evening did not start out too well because when we arrived the place was empty save for music being piped through at a million decibels.  We managed to find someone in the kitchen and we managed to get the music turned down to a reasonable level.  Wendy and Bill managed to find the place without too much problem.  Next there was the camera card incident and then two of the items on the menu were unavailable and these were the ones that we wanted - I was in two minds whether to walk out and go down to the taverna at the bottom of the hill.

Then the place redeemed itself.  As the food began to arrive it was beautifully fresh.  We had olives and salad and bread to start and then the grilled main courses came with plates of fresh vegetables and lovely hand cooked chips - this was followed by anari with honey and fresh watermelon and brandies.  The six of us had a really lovely meal with drinks and a bottle of wine and the sum total was €62 for the six of us!!!!  Would certainly try that place again, and the one at the bottom of the hill and the one we past as we drove back through Tsada!
