The girl done good...

So we start the blog with a big fat CONGRATULATIONS to our super-cool, super-bright god-daughter who got A*'s and Distinctions and the highest marks she could possibly get for the exams she recently took.  The education system is so different now to when I was at school that I am not sure exactly what these exams are but I think they count towards her GCSE's or whatever they call them nowadays.

In celebration we popped the cork on a bottle of fizz up on the roof terrace and yes, you are seeing things correctly, we even managed to get John's Mum up there and back down again safe and sound.

As the good daughter-in-law I try to be I had ironed Janet's new dress which she says I persuaded her to buy in the Mall yesterday although my recollection is that she didn't need much coaxing in that direction - it looked lovely - in fact she looked lovely.  We appreciate this holiday is difficult for her but we are taking each day as it comes.  She will be having a mini break over the next couple of days when she goes down to stay at the villa in Latchi.  This is good because we have a day out planned tomorrow to celebrate the Bobsters birthday.

We had organised that the family experience a traditional meze in a traditional taverna so had booked to go to Finikas in the village and were going to be joined by Di and Rob who never have to be asked twice to eat there and George and Pam and their son Andrew and his daughter Niamh.

Finikas was bouncing, it was full and there was a huge table of 20 Cypriots celebrating a birthday.  We thought this might cause some issues particularly as we know that Andri and Loukas are on holiday but no no no - they called in the reinforcements, their elder son and their 90 year old mother!!!

We know that maybe this food wasn't to everyone's liking but with a meze there should be something that someone can eat and we were well impressed by Alicia who is vegetarian and who tucked in and tried most things.

After our meal we sauntered back home to have a nightcap at ours.  The weather has changed so much - no damp cold evenings now thank goodness - not a cardigan in sight.  We had to go and rescue Chivers and Charlie who decided to follow Di and Rob back home.  Chivers didn't venture too far but Charlie was nowhere to be seen so I walked back towards the village and could hear him crying around the container house.  He soon stopped when he recognised by voice and followed me back home.  All cats accounted for so time for bed.
