And so the week begins...

Monday and art, wooooo hooooo as I haven't been for several weeks.  My picture of the Australian Beach Huts progresses and although I didn't think I had achieved too much today the first of the huts is now completed and I am working my way down the line and then the foreground will need to be done and Bob's your uncle etc etc.  Sheila is working on a new picture - this one features unicorns and as they are currently very fashionable I reckon she would be able to sell this no problem.

It was a lovely morning - I started with a trip to Dad to check to see if there would be space to put something special on his grave next weekend when it would have been his 87th birthday.  His grave is still full of colour with gazania having self seeded and are now in bloom but we can make space and will go look for something in Polis when we go down tomorrow.

This afternoon whilst out and about in the garden I came across something which I thought the Bobster might like for his 'treasures' box!  This is the discarded outer skeleton of a grasshopper - I didn't realise that they 'shed' their skins until I actually witnessed one doing it - apparently the insect cannot breath whilst the molt is in progress and when it emerges it is vulnerable until the body hardens.

We were out this evening - hard to believe I know but we had arranged to meet up with the Bobster and Di and Chris and Pat who are staying just down the road and their friends who have joined them for the middle week of their three week holiday.

We were eating in the village at Finikas and walked in on what was a glorious evening even though the weather has been distinctly iffy of late.  Just up the road from us is the foal who looks in pretty good condition and is clearly being given plenty to eat - it is just a shame that he kicks over his water bucket on a regular basis.  John is going to try and find an old tyre to wedge the water bucket in to make it harder to knock over.

Finikas was unusually busy this evening - several tables of tourists which is good to see.  We had a brilliant evening, as always, with excellent food, wine and company.  As the evening wore on Phillipos came and sat at the end of the table with us dishing out his famous (or should it be infamous) zivania liquer made with the addition of spices and the juice of pomegranates then coffees, brandies and finally chocolate cake for some reason!  He tells us that they are going to close in November for a bit of a refurbishment and we think he indicated that his younger son is to be more involved.  We are hoping that this will not mean major changes because we like it exactly as it is but then we cannot keep the establishment afloat all on our own even though we try!

Although we met up quite early at 7.00pm it ended up being a pretty late night in the end and as we walked home we were met by a rather pee'd off Charlie who was sitting at the end of the estate and almost appeared to be checking his watch as we rocked up!  Clearly he thought we had been out longer than he was happy with!  All the rest were in when to got home so we were able to just fall into bed without any worries.
