Family lunch...

My own personal challenge is to go into our pool for as long as possible but the water temperature is plummeting daily and I am a wimp at the best of times but I have adopted John's - walk straight in and get your shoulders under method and that seems to be working - it is a less painful experience!

We were having a family lunch at Sonny's today - one of Mum and Dad's favourite places and set up in a high spot overlooking Potama Bay, Chris serves good food at good prices.  Kaye and Co love the apartment that we managed to find them - it has everything that they need and is ideally situated for what they need.  They have settled in well even though they only arrived late last night.

Yesterday was Jack's first experience of flying and he took it all in his stride.  He is exceptionally cute and although his routine must be out of the window particularly with the two hours' time difference he was pretty exceptionally good - particularly when the apple pie came out.

He doesn't seem to be phased by anything and is currently undergoing 'child led weaning' which means that you give him food to eat and a means of feeding himself and let him get on with it at his own pace.  So even though he shoved the biggest piece of apple pie in his mouth he then removed what he couldn't manage and plodded his way through - note he isn't wearing a bib and even though he tackled soup and bread and chips and chicken and apple pie he never got any one himself!  Poor lad is unable to eat dairy products as they cause him terrible colic so he couldn't have ice-cream.  Apparently by cutting this food group out for him he has gone from no sleep at night to about 3-4 hours which is a huge progress.

This group of people hasn't been together ever and who knows when or if the opportunity will arise again so we are going to make the most of it even though Andy, Ellie and Jack are only here until Thursday, Kaye is staying a little longer and it could actually be longer than she anticipated as they all flew out on Monarch.

Andy, Ellie and Jack were booked to go back on Thomson anyway so that will be no problem but Kaye's return flight on 10th was supposed to be with Monarch but when we met for lunch today it looked like they were going to go into administration later on today.  Kaye isn't overly bothered as she doesn't have to be back at any particular time.

So we had a lovely lunch - thank you Mum and Dad.  The food was good and everyone seemed to enjoy what they had chosen.  John and I are gradually getting back to some sort of normality with our food intake at last so I chose a light starter and fish for my main course and no pudding plus I was driving so no alcohol either.

It's amazing that even though Jack has never met John before he was more than happy to walk with him to the car when it was time to leave.  Hearing him say Uncle John is hilarious because his voice rises an octave when it comes to saying the word John!

We said our goodbyes and left Mum and Dad to show Elena where to find Paps supermarket and we made our way up the hill to Droushia.

We have invited Kaye and Co to come up to ours for lunch tomorrow and then they are going to have tea at Mum and Dad's because Aunty Joyce and Uncle David should be arriving tomorrow afternoon.

We were exhausted when we got back so watched a few episodes of Safe House before retiring for an early night.  You can tell it is cooler at night as the cats are starting to sleep on the bed all night which can make it awkward if they fall asleep before you get in as you have to mould your body around them!
