So today...
...for some reason today I was the first up and making the coffee with the new machine (which is FAB). The only problem is that now we have our coffee at about quarter past eight (I read and John catches up with the news on the Tablet) so we dont really get up until gone nine!!!
Previously we had to get out of bed and go across the patio to make a coffee so we were getting up much earlier!!

Priority on John's 'To Do List'
is erecting the BBQ housing and so the main job for today was to get the base finished - as you can see we got it done in the end although John went down to Polis to get the mix and then ended up one bag short so had to go to the Bed DIY container on the main Polis road to get the shortfall. We have to leave this now for a couple of days until it is fully set and then we can begin putting the BBQ housing up. This now has to 'go off' for a day or so and looking at it we think now we should have set our handprints in as per the Hollywood walk of fame!!!

We went across to our neighbours this morning to check out their propery and to see exactly what the builders next door have been up to. We were amazed to see that there was a Carob Rat in their pool despite the fact that they have quite a number of cats that are fed on their premises. We think we may see more of them now that the field next door has been cleared and they have nowhere to hide (carob rats that is not cats)!! We had that one in the garden the other week but luckily so far apart from that haven't seen one at all. Anyway undaunted I grabbed the pool net this evening and managed to capture the offending item and throw it well away past their house into some wasteland. You can see how quickly an unattended pool deteriorates.

I did some garden clearing this morning and took out the pots that I had got from Horatiu when I was at Porter Dodson and planted them up with the geranium cuttings that I had been taking from the estate. I can so remember when H got a job lot of these planters off of the internet and was convinced he was going to get rid of them at a car boot and make a killing - he spent all day in the blazing sun and got very little for his trouble!! Disillusioned he let me have two sets at cost - undaunted he continued car booting until he had flogged the lot - he ended up barely covering his initial outlay but you couldn't fault him for his perseverence! Let's hope that things are falling into place for him now that he has returned to Romania with his girlfriend.
Well as you I said John got the base sorted for the BBQ and so we then took an hour or so cutting the tongue and groove that is going to go in the toilet next to the kitchen. It is amazing how the sun has coloured the wood whilst it has been laying outside - we have to lay all the cut pieces out now so that they adopt the same sort of colour.

We got a phone call in the middle of cutting the wood from Philippos to ask John if he would go next door and put some chlorine into the pool as there was a 'problema' with the pool. Putting chlorine in is a piece of cake - you just put the granules into a watering can and dilute them and then water the pool as you can see in the picture. Only trouble was that wasnt enough for John who felt he should take some time to try and sort out the problem. He hates for something like that to beat him plus Philippos has been very good with us over the years so John was keen to try and sort the problem for him.

So right in the middle of cutting the wood for the toilet John sloped off to check out next doors pool - not a man to be beaten by a simple thing like that!! By the time he had finished he had isolated the bit that was faulty and waited for the official electrician to pitch up so that he could let him know what the problem was!! And when the guy did turn up the two of them had their heads in the pool house sorting out the 'problema'.
This evening Mum Dad John and I went to Miliou to try the local taverna - it is the one that we found when we were out on the bike the other Sunday. We were soooooooo excited when we had a text from Laura and Mark to say that they were coming over to visit in early October. We are so pleased!!!!! It now gives us even more of an excuse to go and check out some of the local hostelry (on a purely fact finding basis of course!!).
Anyway back to the taverna in Miliou... We had a lovely evening in a wonderful setting - patronising a young couple who are working their socks off trying to make a taverna work - whether or not it was the best food we have ever had is debatable but it was just a nice evening and we will definitely go back again.
