We woke to the gentle sound of rain today - magnified by the polythene!! There is, however, something very comforting about being snuggled up under the 15 tog duvet lying on the thick down topper knowing that you don't have to get up if you don't want to - or should I say if you don't have cats!!! Not so bad this morning as having been out last night we were quite late back from Paphos so the cats have not been shut in for that long - long enough to get up to mischief - when we got home last night the two of them had obviously been having a bit of a party - a bag of nuts and bolts that had been on the kitchen work surface were all over the floor and one of them was attached to Minnie's magnet! Chivs had removed his collar completely - which is a bit of a worry as if they ever get to grips with the cat flap he is going to need to the magnet on the collar to get in and out.
The rain gave way to sporadic bursts of sunshine but it had been declared a duvet-day in our household so we were snuggled on the sofa watching films. The cats snuggled for all of a mili-second before wailing to go out - they are such duffers as they could come and go as they pleased if they just got used to the cat-flap!!
Chivs took the opportunity to escape into his favourite plaything which is the big old tree in the field next door - he is quite well camouflaged but the birds are no fools and you can see them watching him from the top of the tree laughing at his efforts at stalking. Minnie Mou was watching from the sidelines although she has no qualms whatsoever at following him and climbing as high as the branches will allow. She is a feisty little madam!!
As I have said before I make no apology on a slow-news day for filling the blog with photographs of the kitties as they are turning into such handsome little cats, duffers but handsome all the same!! No further forward with using the cat-slap they just sit and make eyes at us until we either encourage them through or relent and open the door.
We are finalising our preparations for Christmas and have a number of little jobs that we need to get out of the way before Mum and Dad come to stay. I have no idea how the Christmas lunch will pan out as my cooker rarely gets used, we have limited space and no dishwasher this year!! - Still I am working on the premise that if we get drunk enough no-one will care!!
The rain subsided fairly early on so we went down to Polis to get some shopping and took the opportunity to sit outside at To Karabani to have a spot of lunch - it is so lovely to still be able to sit outside when the sun is shining - the forecast for the next couple of days isn't so good so we grab it whilst we can. We have everything crossed that Boxing Day will be kind to us as our walk will go out of the window otherwise.
We are trying to get ahead of the game so I have started some mulled wine in the slow cooker and John is perfecting his starter for Christmas Day (cant say what it is as Mum and Dad will be reading this!!!). My mulled wine is in need of something so a good old slug of Brandy and Commandaria have been mixed in - it can only get better... John's starter has been critiqued and we have agreed on a couple of tweaks and that should be good to go for Sunday.
