Craft is Cancelled...

So today Craft was cancelled because poor Jeanette was suffering with a migraine.  I can fully sympathise having been plagued by migraines all my life.  It was also absolutely bucketing down early on this morning so it would have been a bit of a pain dodging the rain carrying my craft supplies out to the car.

No craft meant the opportunity to chill this morning and catch-up on the TV we missed last night - I am hooked on Celebrity Bake-Off - with those eyes Paul Hollywood could check out my buns anytime!

Chilling means slobbing - let me introduce you to my new Christmas slobbing slippers which I absolutely LOVE - John was unconvinced when they arrived - I mean to say they are hardly the stuff that fantasies are made of but they are so lush - toasty warm, with outside soles and a built in cat toy by way of the pom-poms.

Comfy warm slippers in Cyprus - you just cannot have enough in my book so if anyone is thinking of sending me a birthday present... or jimjams of course, snuggly jimjams are another must have if you are living up in the hills so just to be clear cosy slippers and snuggly pyjamas are very acceptable presents!!

With no craft we decided to go down onto the coast to try and find some holiday villas for Kaye.  It is incredibly green now and the countryside is stunning and once the spring flowers start to bloom it will look at its absolute best.  As we drove down towards Polis the sun broke through the clouds and the day turned out to be much more pleasant than we had anticipated.

Nothing really looks at its best this time of year - particularly as we have been battered by some horrendous storms over the last couple of days.  In fact we heard that Latchi had been flooded earlier in the week and we saw evidence of this today with shop owners mopping out after the heavy rain and hail last night.

Nevertheless we found these two villas tucked away between Polis and Latchi which looked really quite nice even though they are shut up for the winter.  The one on the left was our favourite but unfortunately isn't big enough to accommodate them all.  We collected all sorts of websites for rental villas in Polis and Latchi so hopefully something will be suitable and available for them.  It's difficult to know what people's expectations are so we are measuring it against the lovely villa they had some years ago on the road to St Georges.

Whilst in Polis we found a shop which was selling the electric panel heaters that Bill had been recommending and which we thought were very effective in their holiday home.  We are trying to find economical dry heat for the villa as the Super Ser just seems to contribute to the condensation.  We haven't ruled out a wood burner in fact we are still very keen but we aren't going to rush into it and do our homework before we buy.

I had a phonecall today from Marion who was one of the ladies at the ex-pat tea I went to before Christmas at Marianna's.  She is organising the inaugural ex-pat ladies lunch which is taking place on February 1st at the restaurant in the Palates Hotel in Droushia.  Apparently over twenty of us put our names down so she is hopeful there will be continued interest.  I am going to go along - if nothing else I will be able to see what the restaurant is like at the Palates and it may be somewhere John and I will go to some other time.

On returning home I decided to do some tidying as we have a number of cupboards that quickly become glory-holes and make John very tetchy!!  I am sure everyone has the same problem with their pots and pans cupboard.  Tidying is not easy as any rustle of plastic brings Chivers running because that means a toy!  His 'help' is a complete hindrance and the job takes twice as long as it should do.

The panel heaters are doing their stuff and seem to be warming the room nicely but of course there is no focal point - and the gas fire does look nice - so Minnie is a bit confused as she doesn't know where to stretch out - unusually for her she opted to snuggle up in John's arms where she stayed until she did her usual trick of slipping out a small, silent but smelly little fart and then moved away from it - she is such a lady - not!!!

The bright day means that the temperature outside is plummeting - Philippos in the bank tells me we are due some snow - I bloody hope not!
