A whole week has passed since that traumatic visit to the airport to pick up Vicki and now we have reached the end of her week with us. We have packed so much into this week and hope that we have helped in some way to guide Vix and Trev towards making their decision about moving to Cyprus. Vix has experienced four seasons in one week although fortunately no snow as Simon had mentioned just a stunning view of snow on the Troodos instead.
We woke to bright bright sunshine but a sharp and biting wind so wrapped up warmly and after a good cooked breakfast headed for Latchi and the harbour and a last day walk and photo opportunity. John was dropping us off at the harbour and then driving down to the Polis campsite to pick us up - we reckoned on about an hour to walk and shoot!
We were unable to walk the first part of the coast path as it was under water! Latchi has been hammered by the weather this winter what with the river of mud that swept through the harbour area.
It was a lovely walk today and so good to get the cobwebs blown away. My photographs never quite manage to capture the power of the sea partly because it is accompanied by the booming sound of it crashing in and crashing out and in places you can see the damage that the water has done over the last couple of months.
In fact at the end we were unable to walk through the camp-site to where John was waiting for us as it is currently under a considerable amount of water.
We stopped en route to use the timer to take a picture of us in the same spot that John and I had sat at several months ago (when it was considerably warmer). Still we tend to forget that it is only February. If we could have braved it and taken off our gloves, scarves and body warmers we could have almost fooled you into thinking it was sunny and warm!
We drove into Polis as we felt a cuppa was in order and were pleased to find that the Art Cafe was open as we had been recommended the cakes there. John and I had tried to go before but it was closed. We always used to frequent the Art Cafe in Yeovil when it used to be open - Art Cafes always seem to specialise in a decent cuppa and a cracking piece of cake Gromit!
We dragged ourselves off to the supermarket as I needed to restock the shelves and there were a couple of things that Vix wanted to take back with her because, let's face it, where else can you get fluffy fluffy pittas other than Paps?
We reluctantly returned home as Vix' departure time loomed. Trev had already left from Larnaca earlier this morning.
We sat outside in the front garden catching the remainder of the sunshine before having an early tea, packing up and setting off for Paphos. We had decided to call in to Mum and Dad's for a cuppa if we were early enough and as their friends (and ours) Jane and John were arriving on the flight that Vix was leaving on suggested we stay at the airport and collect them to save Mum and Dad going out in the cold.
Vix checked in without incident and Jane and John arrived early and got through with their bags pretty quickly. The car did not let us down tonight THANK GOD so we were able to deliver them safe and sound to Mum and Dad for the start of their four week holiday.
We are now back in Droushia - home alone - except for the cats of course!
The sun went down like a ball of flames tonight so I have my fingers crossed for a fine day tomorrow so that I can get some washing done.
Our lovely neighbour Galadia has phoned tonight to check we are ok up here in the cold - how lovely of her and how nice it will be to see her, Charalambous and Elena and George next weekend as it is a long weekend incorporating Green Monday - or Clean Monday actually - and if you want to know more then read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clean_Monday
Night Night all xx
