It is Valentine's Day today, not that it means very much to John and I, but it did not go unmarked as John shot out early this morning and picked a flower for both Vix and I. I was just putting a little tray together for Vix with an early morning cup of tea and her flower when she beat me to it! We were having a retail therapy day today so we had to be ready fairly early as we were picking up Mum and Dad around 10.00 this morning and then going off to Limassol.
Trev, the old romantic that he is (NOT normally) had slipped a card into Vix suitcase and included a lottery scratch card for her and me. So no begging letters please but this is a WINNING scratch card - check it out I won a whole £1.00 - I wont let it go to my head though!! THANKS TREV retirement will be that little be easier now I am a lottery winner.
We got sorted and fortunately there was no power cut today so both Vix and I were able to complete our ablutions - no bad hair day today thank God as we are going to be seen in public.
On the way down to Mum and Dad's we called into the new Steptoes shop on the Polis Road so that Vix could see the quality and range of furniture that they stock - we were well impressed by the shop - it is laid out in 'rooms' all beautifully dressed with all sorts of finishing touches. Vix is sure that if and when they come over here there will be plenty to chose from if they need to furnish a place and decide not to bring all their own stuff.
We took the scenic route along the coast taking in the Rocks of Aphrodite before getting back up onto the motorway and heading for Limassol. The weather was warm and muggy today with little sunshine but very pleasant nevertheless. The Rocks looked as stunning as ever - maybe even more so because of the green lush vegetation that comes with the Spring.
We had a bit of a misery tour today - we didn't find Jumbo's straight away - but as we kept saying 'no shipwrecks and nobody drownded'. Jumbo's was a revelation to Vicki - so much to see and buy and at very reasonable prices too!!! Quite a lot of the shop was taken over with Valentine's gifts and fancy dress for the Carnival season but we still managed to find all sorts to 'coo' over including craft goodies. None of us spent a fortune but we felt like we had had a good old mooch. John was an absolute star and walked round with Mum and Dad leaving Vicki and I free to do our own wandering. He is such a love.
Next stop was My Mall and again we didn't find it straight away as we followed the signs and ended up in a cul-de-sac with Dad telling us that he wouldn't have gone that way!
My Mall has improved since we first went there a couple of years ago and we found plenty of variety in the shops to keep us occupied. Dad was pleased to get the opportunity to eat at Bamboo for lunch and Mum, John and Vix all indulged in a KFC - their one weakness!
It is great that Mum and Dad felt well enough to come with us - they are both feeling so much better and Mum was looking very stylish today in a grey ensemble that really suited her colouring.
Our next stop was Pissouri so that Vix could see what it had to offer. We think it could be a good location if Trev does work and has to have access to the motorway. Again we didn't quite make it to the beach first time - John ended up in some mega housing estate instead!!! It was getting late in the day hence the picture looks a bit grey but we went down to the beach and went into the Captain's Bay for a coffee/tea.
We then went back up to Pissouri Village for a walk around - we had planned to have a meal but (a) it was Valentine's Day and (b) it was not that long since our food at My Mall and no-one was hungry! I text Wendy and Bill to let them know that we were in the vicinity as the last time we were there we were visiting them.
We had had a lovely day and decided to make our way back home (throwing Mum and Dad out on the way) again we failed miserably to go directly home as Dad sent us onto the motorway at a junction which only went to Limassol and not to Paphos!!
We had decided that if Yianni's was open in Kathikas we would call in there so that Vix would go out at least once during her holiday! but Yianni's was not open so home was the next port of call. I am not sure that anyone was really that bothered as it had been a long day and shopping can be very tiring.
Vicki is being treated to a rolling mist tonight, Minnie Mou has lost her bloody collar complete with magnet and name tag and Chivers is doing our head in playing with a Kitkat wrapper. However, the fire is lit and we have had lovely pittas for tea albeit a bit late. Trev has 'sniped' tonight and his course is now going better so all is good in the hood.
