Another Beautiful Day...

Today we were 'at leisure' and indeed we had a leisurely start with a bit of a lie in and a late breakfast before we decided that we would go down to Latchi and take a walk along the coast finishing off at Faros for a well-earned drink.

The sea was the most fantastic colour today and Laura braved it by putting her toes in the water and declaring that it actually wasn't too bad!

Latchi is, as you know, one of my most favourite places in the world and I have been to one or two!  The beach today was deserted, the sand clean (by Cyprus standards) and the wind warm.

John dropped us off at the picnic site and took the car down to the marina armed with the Sunday paper (four days old but still news to us).  He was going to wait for us whilst sipping a small beer or two!  Bless him he has put up with two women in the house ganging up on him and then there is Laura and her Laura-isms like "I've got a really good sewing machine - its a Swinger!".

Vix will recognise this shot - as I did the same with her when we did the same walk back in February although we were in body warmers at the time - I would like to say that a hunky Cypriot guy stopped us and took the photo but I just used the self timer!

Apparently the wild weather of the past few weeks has washed a load of silt onto the seabed and this is what is creating the fantastic strips of colour in the sea behind us. I think we both look like we have seen a bit of sunshine over the last week and hopefully Laura will go home refreshed and relaxed and enjoy next week at home with Mark when she isn't working.

We met up with John at Faros.  The improvements to the harbourside are still being done hence the fencing between our table and the waterside.  Laura is showing John how to do a number puzzle!  She decided that this was a good place to people watch - one of her favourite hobbies!!

We spent a pleasant hour or so sat in the sunshine and then took a walk back along the shops having a look at what was on offer and John managed to get a new fine net for skimming the top of the swimming pool as his existing one has a bloody great hole in it which rather defeats the object.

Back at home Laura and I sat outside in the front garden where there was the most sunshine and the least wind.  I had managed to find on the tintyweb some small gecko blanks which I thought Laura and I could decorate.  These were nothing like as good as the one which Vicki had decorated for me but I haven't managed to find anywhere that supplies them.  We decorated three geckos which Laura is going to take home for her new house.  The one which I particularly liked was the one which she painted with nail varnish and then gave two big eyes!

Tonight Laura and I have cooked a vegetarian meal for tea.  We did lemon roast potatoes, fasolia (butter beans in a tomato sauce with vegetables), grilled red peppers, grilled halloumi, feta with mint, onion and lemon and dips.

John is a confirmed meat eater but even he thought the meal was superb.  It was really really tasty and I have put the fasolia recipe on the food diary page of this blog so that anyone who wants to can try it for themselves.

I can't believe that Laura's week is nearly at an end - it is flying by.  Tomorrow some last minute shopping for her and some case weighing to make sure she isn't over her limit!
