Mrs P arrives today so we were in frantic cleaning mode and, as the weather was glorious, I took the opportunity to get her bedding out on the line for an airing so that it would be all fresh and lovely for her to climb into later this evening - that was always providing that the bloody car didn't let me down at the airport like it did when I went to pick up Vix - I am not sure I could stand another evening in Paphos airport with the friendly neighbourhood taxi driver from Inea. I am however braving it on my own again as John is staying behind to make sure the house is warm and cosy for when we return.
A whole load of stuff came out of the cupboard - apparently these are used for something called 'cleaning' - the cats were terrified by the hoover - it's probably the first time they have ever heard this noise before - as I said to Mum I don't hoover too much in an attempt to save on electricity! Well that's my excuse and I am going to stick to it.
I was so enthusiastic with the polishing that I managed to empty a whole can - you do use it like fresh air spray don't you???? Just remember Bullshit Baffles Brains...
Dad had decided to come up and look at the conservatory after his walk in Kathikas so we were busy putting the finishing touches which meant that we found a home for the beautiful gecko that Vicki had made me. He now lives under the window of the guest bedroom sunning himself!
Even first thing in the morning the sun was beginning to warm up the space beautifully - it will probably only be a matter of weeks before we are complaining that it is too hot in there but I cant help thinking that Dad will just love it for a warm after dinner snooze or two.
The sun highlighted just how much the glass needs a damn good clean but we didn't really have time to get it done properly today so it is a job that will wait for next week some time.
We hadn't expected to see Mum today as she was due to go out with Eileen but she rang to say that she was dropping Dad off for his walk and wanted to come up and wait for him. We had a real struggle to get her to sit down and RELAX as she was insistent that she wanted to do something but we wouldn't let her. She became the first person to sit down and have a read in the conservatory!!
Mum and I left John working and went down into town together. We shared lunch at Karavani which I think Mum enjoyed - she hadn't eaten there before. We then went on a little mooch around the shops as I stocked up for Laura's visit. Mum doesn't ever go shopping in Polis so it was a nice change for her. On our return John had picked up Dad and he was, as I suspected, enjoying the sunshine under the glass - checking his eyelids for pinholes!!
My trip to the airport was completely uneventful thank goodness and Laura's flight touched down a little early and it wasn't too long before she came through those sliding doors and we paid the parking, got the car started and made our way back to Droushia where John was waiting with the fire lit (surprise surprise).
Lovely Laura came bearing gifts, loads and loads of them and Minnie Mou took it upon herself to carry out the quality control having a good sniff round the bags just in case there was a titbit or treat coming in her direction! Laura had brought goodies for the cats but given half a chance they would eat them all in one go so we have to be careful to ration them!
I can't believe how much stuff Laura brought for us both which included two pairs of boots for me which were fantastic - good old Primani - now if there is one thing I miss then it is Primani for cheap and cheerful expendable fashion - how I wish they would open a branch here in Paphos!
It was so good to catch up and see the photographs of Mark and Laura's lovely new home - it looks fantastic and we are both so pleased for them. Time slipped by as we were catching up and John made sure that we were kept warm and toasty.
We managed to remember to put the clocks forward thank goodness otherwise we were going to be buggered tomorrow! Fingers crossed this good weather continues for the week ahead.
