Today is one of those slow news days - one of those days when nothing particularly noteworthy has occurred or at least nothing much in my opinion!
It dawned dry and bright and still - no builders at Angela's and no builders at Andreas's for once! We lay in bed with the windows open and the sun streaming in waiting for the patter of little paws. Min Min and Chivers just love coming into the bedroom and Min Min loves to curl up on John's chest with her paws on his face looking oh so sweet and like butter wouldn't melt in her tight little mouth. She snuggles up to him shooting sly little looks in my direction as if to say "He's mine so what are you going to do about it?". I clearly cannot win this battle so I just shuffle over to accommodate her!
As I dragged myself up and walked across to the kitchen it was positively balmy today - and as we were off down to Paphos we didn't have enough time to get any jobs done so it was a lazy old start to the day. We had an episode of Masterchef on catchup and were sorry that Jay was eliminated - his food was much too unrefined and manly but he came across as a nice ordinary Bloke.
Just as we were leaving Sheila called in to drop off a Birthday Card for me which was really kind of her and she got her own back on us by telling us we had quite a bit of post waiting for us at the cafe - normally it is me that tells her! We stopped off on the way down to Paphos. I just LOVE getting post even though must of it is unsolicited rubbish being forwarded by the Royal Mail and that will come to an end shortly as the redirection only lasts a year. Today though there were a number of birthday cards and a parcel.
Anyway - this is me at the pickleball court warming up - on a day like today very little warming up is required as it was very pleasant down on the court and the garden full of beached pasty coloured whales sunbathing would agree!!
I think I have said before that the Imperial Beach where we play is a really nice hotel and it is set in lovely grounds. I am guessing that the people who stay long term over the winter get themselves a really good deal. I took the opportunity between games to take a wander round and take some photographs - avoiding the cats that were fighting in the garden next to the court. I am not sure whether it is mating season or what but they were kicking seven bells of shit out of one another and making such a racket that one or two of the holidaymakers threw books or bags at them to try and make them stop. It makes me realise that when our two do it they are only playing.
So we had a good old work out today - only five of us as Mum did something to her back yesterday and is giving it a rest which is sensible. John says that he thought I played well today which means a lot because I have never been very good at sport mainly because of my appalling eyesight which makes ball sports difficult as I cannot see anything very much when it gets in close proximity. Anyway I try my best and I do think I am improving although if anyone said to me 'you are the weakest link' I wouldn't argue with them!
We called into Lidl on the way back to Mum and Dad's - our freezer is getting dangerously short of the Bourbon Vanilla Ice-cream that they sell and if any of you like vanilla ice-cream then this is the creme de la creme oscar winning gold star you can't bend it fandabbydozey vanilla ice-cream to beat all vanilla ice-creams! Don't take my word for it go out and find a Lidl and treat yourself you wont regret it! and this comes from someone who doesn't normally eat ice-cream!!!
We had a lovely evening with Mum and Dad - Mum cooked a super meal which made up for the fact that our plans for this evening had been scuppered. I had seen the Polis catering school advertising meals and had thought I had booked us a table but when I rang to check this week they claimed to have no record - I kind of thought that there might be an issue so it didn't come as a great surprise but I was disappointed.
On returning home we were greeted by a brilliant full moon and the unmistakable sound of tree frogs doing their stuff! I managed to record the sound on my Blackberry but I haven't found a way to add it to the blog - yet! You have to hear it though to believe it! It really does feel as though Winter has been shrugged off and Spring is here - let's hope so!
We are just spending an hour or so with the cats before we go to bed and then it is my birthday tomorrow and Mum and Dad are coming up and we are going out for lunch at Faros together. I see that this time last year I celebrated my birthday by going to lunch with Gemma, Horatiu, Alex and Deborah from work and in the evening going to the local pub (the Royal Standard) in Yeovil to play Crib and John was up in Sheffield visiting his family - what a difference a year makes.
