More Goats...More Craft...

We returned home from Emba laden with goodies.  We always do!  Today, amongst other things, Mum gave me a bunch of narcissi which she had growing in the garden.  When they have finished she is going to split them so that I can but some in the garden.  As we have some already growing, which we planted last year, they must like the extreme conditions they have to endure up here.

I love the smell they produce, Mum hates it!  The lounge has been filled with their heady fragrance - better than any artificial plug in!

On returning home both Minnie Mou and Chivers shook a leg (or is it paw) waking from their slumbers at around 10.00 am - it's a tough old life they lead!

The goat man was back again today and after Chivers went on his hunting expedition yesterday we kept a close eye on him - I am sure that nanny goats are probably very protective of their kids and he can be a bit stupid sometimes.  Some of the billies were rutting or whatever the goat equivalent is and look quite aggressive so John took both Chivers and Minnie Mou up onto the roof terrace so that they could watch at a safe distance.

We had to nip down to Polis this morning to sort out our electric.  Despite having telephoned in our meter reading mid March the bill which arrived today was for no consumption just the standing charge.  Nice but totally incorrect and with the price of electric over here we needed to pay our dues rather than let it roll over.  It is always the same old routine - we go into the electricity board, they produce a bill on a plain, unheaded piece of paper, we take it into Polis Co-Op bank, they peer at it dubiously because it is on a plain, unheaded piece of paper, have a conflab amongst themselves and then take our money!

On our return from Polis the temperature had really begun to hot up.  The outside temperature was over 30 degrees for the first time this year and inside the conservatory was heading towards 40 degrees.  Thank goodness John designed the folding doors so that we can have all sorts of combinations to provide ventilation.  Today we had it all set up in readiness for a craft afternoon with Marian from up the road.  It has given us the opportunity to get Trevor the Table out of storage.  It doesn't quite have the stunning view that we get from Jeanette's but it isn't bad!

I made Mum and Dad's anniversary card.  I have been recycling cards which people have given me and I quite like doing that.  I brought so much stuff with me from the UK and we are so limited with storage space that I am keen to try and get rid of some of it.

I am going to Jeanette's tomorrow for the first time in ages.  I am going to take my geckos with me as my project as I can't stay too long (a) because it is also the Droushia Ladies Lunch and I promised to take Melanie with me this time and (b) Dad is off to Limassol early on Thursday morning for his cataract operation and I am driving him, mum and the surgeon - yes you have read correctly the surgeon!  Apparently we are taking her with us and bringing her back - at least she will be on hand all the way making sure Dad is ok.

Marian and I spent a lovely couple of hours in the conservatory.  I got her doing some painting for a change - I am still wading my way through a bag of old cards cutting out the bits that I think I will be able to re-use.

Marian's husband Chris has just completed putting a new border around the edge of the swimming pool so John and I took a walk round to have a look at the finished article.  It has certainly given their pool a new lease of life and is worth considering.  Chris kindly gave us a sample so that we could see what it might look like on our pool, the only trouble is ours has faded so much that the border just looked too new against the sunbleached mosaic liner.  The jury is out on this one at the moment.

It looks like they may be starting doing some work on the Medlife Centre across the road from us as there has been a digger in there this afternoon although we aren't entirely sure what it was up to - we will probably go and investigate tomorrow.

Have just realised that one of the cats - probably Minnie Mou - has been using the beanbag in the conservatory as a cat litter box - in fairness it was in the same place as their box and I guess it sounds similar and our old cats did that too.  We had to consign the bag to the rubbish bin - and then text Irene to tell her not to retrieve it to sell - she thought that was hysterical and admits she has found some good stuff in bins before now!
