John has been a very chirpy chappy today because he has a project on the go and he is the first to admit that he enjoys building things. That is great for me and great for the villa because he is really turning it into a lovely home. Whatever I do I will always have to budget to make sure that there are funds for DIY!
We did not have that late a night last night nor that boozy - for a start Sharon doesn't drink - but I think we were all a little tired and John and I didn't wake till nearly 8.00am and only then because Minnie Mou was turning cartwheels on my bladder!
Dad was walking at Mandria today and so we had invited Mum up so that she was not on her own as understandably she was feeling a bit down and the house would have felt a bit empty without Missie. We had planned to go to the Art Cafe with Mel and Simon but they had to call off as they were stuck down in Paphos - at the end of the day it was probably better that we just had Mum here to ourselves.
Before Mum arrived I was helper in chief - obviously my tiling from yesterday had passed muster and so I was deemed capable of weilding the spirit level once again. This is stage one of the carport because we are undecided about what to actually put on the roof - it is a big expanse so tiles might be very heavy so we may go for the corrugated sheets that look like tiles.
I felt a bit guilty leaving John to it but he was in his element and Mum and I had some time together albeit doing grocery shopping. It was exceptionally warm today down in Polis - 27 degrees and still. We were lucky that in Droushia we had a warm wind so it wasn't so bad for John whilst he was working.
Mum and I did the usual Chillies, Paps, GB Shop circuit although the first time I tried to get to Chillies some bugger had parked a BMW A3 so I couldn't get into the car park and as I wanted a slab of Pepsi I needed to be reasonably close to the door. That's what made me smile when Vicki said that if she and Trev moved over here she would have to learn where to find things and where to park. Where do you park in Cyprus? Wherever you want!!
On returning to Droushia we felt it only fair to feed John after all his hard work and so we sat out on the decking - it makes such a difference to be sat on a flat surface and not scraping your chairs over shingle. John was having a pre Super Soccer Sunday Cider, somehow we just knew that it was a drink to numb the pain of Sheffield United missing out on an automatic play off place when they had it in the bag.
The structure was completed and even Mum was in on the act of tidying up looking resplendent in her cheerful red outfit. John had worked like an absolute trojan and what a great job he had made of it. In the interim he is putting up some green material left over from the gazebo that was put up there but which the winds at Christmas destroyed.
We said goodbye to Mum, tidied up and settled down for the evening. John was philosophical about the events of League Division One and it means that we have the agony of the playoffs to endure. We know from bitter experience that these are usually games too far for SUFC but lets hope they prove us wrong.
We have eventually caught up with Vix and Trev tonight via Skype and the wonders of Trev's Ipad. It was good to see them both looking well although they have had to light a fire in their house today as the weather is so cold and miserable in Odcombe!
