I don't know how it happened but this post got forgotten and refers to last Saturday. So it is a bit out of sync but having taken the time to write it I ain't gonna ignore it!!

The temperatures are really rising now - summer has arrived and this morning in the conservatory the mercury was pushing towards 40 degrees - a bit misleading I know because of all that glass - but the weather station (time is wrong) was showing 33 degrees very early this morning so whichever way you look at it - it is HOT!
We are now at a point when jobs should be done early in the morning or later in the afternoon so that we dont get heat stroke! That meant that although we had had a reasonably late night we were up early because our neighbours Gregoris and Theodora were coming for the weekend and we still had a pallet of tiles for the car port sitting on their drive. I also wanted to tidy up the front of their garden to make it look a bit more welcoming for them.

So John is nearly there - but we ran out of tiles!! Two more rows are required so we will have to get them sometime next week. I have painted up the metal supports so that they blend in better. John still has some more reinforcing he wants/needs to do and we want to build a shed in the back corner where the bike is currently located but it is more or less complete and at least it has been built to blend in with the roofs of the other buildings rather than the garage round the corner which looks like cheese making factory! Our neighbour Chris came up to have a look at what we were doing as he is contemplating putting up a similar sort of structure at his house to protect their car and we were mortified when Chivers found the newly delivered sand for the house next door and decided to do a massive dump in the middle - the only positive thing was that his poo was perfect!!! I cleared it up and was glad that we had seen him do it otherwise the poor builders would have had a nasty shock - at least I know that if there is any other poop in there it hasn't come from my cats!

After taking a rather bracing dip in the pool (still hovering in the mid 70's) the second job we did was a bit of a last minute decision. We have been thinking for a while about putting some steps across from the decking to the pool. It means that you can walk from the pool up to the roof terrace without getting your feet full of shingle - with visitors due to arrive John only had time to make two steps but he intends to add a third - with my little short legs the spacing is all wrong!! I shall tell my sister that that is our equivalent to a red carpet for her visit!

Before the clan arrived we all took time out to relax in under the gazebo - even the cats curled up in sync next to John - this is rare at the moment as it is generally too hot for them to be in close proximity. They are having to get used to more people being around and they are going to have a shock tomorrow when our neighbours are in as they usually have great fun running around their garden. In fact this morning Chivers was in there with his 'friend' a feral tom who has pitched up and is very vocal - quite sweet but un-neutered and sprays so we dont want to encourage him around ours.

All our guests arrived late afternoon and we squeezed them in for drinkies before we set off down to Latchi to have a meal at Faros. Once again I gave the camera a rest - it's too hard to get 11 in the shot anyway. It was fairly busy down at the harbour which is good to see. As usual we had a good meal for a very good price - I know Faros isn't everyone's choice but it has never let us down and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal which included puddings that came resplendent with a sparkler! It was another late night because everyone piled back to ours for a drink before turning in for the night. It is great that Mum and Dad can stay rather than have to drive all the way back to Emba in the dark.
