Today I am home alone cleaning and catching up from having visitors. John has gone down to Polis to spend the morning with his mum and have a bite to eat before badminton and then home. We are all off out this evening to the ENAD Football do on the beach at La Plage where a Tina Turner tribute will entertain us.
I was making my umpteenth batch of coleslaw for Janet and shredding the vegetables so I could have another batch ready for Sunday when we are having a family barbeque. John shot off to Polis only to have to turn back because he had forgotten the Viklari leftover pork souvla he had sliced up for them to have in rolls or is it cobs or barm cakes if you are from Yorkshire/Derbyshire?

I am getting fooded out so today for lunch I had fresh passion fruit courtesy
of Mum's neighbour served like a boiled egg - they are absolutely delicious followed by some fruit of the prickly pear. There is a reason why they are called prickly pears and I found to my cost that the almost invisible prickles are evident even in the fruit - I am now desperately trying to find the ones I can feel in my palms, thumb and my upper lip. Lesson learned I think - only eat prickly pear fruit when someone else has (carefully) prepared it.

Mr Boo is off colour today - bless him he has thrown up on my freshly laundered bed - don't you just love it when that happens? On closer inspection it would appear that his little tummy has refused the entry of a lizard's tail - either the lizard shed it and that is all Mr Boo got or the rest got digested and that was all that was left. Either way he is feeling very sorry for himself and has dragged himself off of the bed and is lying in the shade by the pool periodically looking at me and crying.
Poor boy I have just noticed that the bit of black that I assumed with a bit of a clinker hanging onto his bottom and which has been there for quite some time (despite him regularly cleaning himself) has turned out to be a blood sucking tick - I hate those things and I have had to very careful remove it from what must be a rather delicate area! He is feeling doubly sorry for himself now and has gone off to beat up an unsuspecting Charlie.
This evening we are off to a musical night on the beach at La Plage which is to raise money for ENAD Football club. This year we are to be entertained by a Tina Turner Tribute Act and La Plage is providing a buffet. We plan to get there early to ensure a good and comfortable seat for Hadge and we are armed with cardies and throws in case it gets chilly and cushions for our bums!
We were there early and settled and after John Read had got over the shock of the price of his first round of drinks ready to enjoy the evening. We weren't sure exactly who might be coming so had grabbed a long table which got easily filled by friends and friends of friends and daughters of friends!
The €15 ticket price included a buffet supper - we all agreed it was unbelievable value - the food was plentiful, hot and delicious - John even went so far as to say the souvla would have given Viklari a run for its money so that was praise indeed - we were all groaning at the seams when they asked us to go back for more! Have to say a big Well Done to La Plage it was excellent.

The Tina Turner act was a girl called Kaela Santosh who proved to be a good entertainer - her wig might have looked more Rod Stewart than Tina Turner but she could belt out a fine tune and managed to get people from the audience up and participating with Chris and his somewhat reluctant partner coming a worthy second in the 'Private Dancer' competition!
Janet and Hadge seemed to enjoy themselves - what more could you want than a warm and balmy evening at an absolutely stunning location, with excellent food and good company and some entertainment thrown in - don't reckon they will be doing that when they return oooop north in a couple of weeks time!
Finally I think I may have got my next car sorted. This evening the ENAD superstar Boogie came along to the show to thank people for their support. As he was chatting to John he told him that his wife was expecting a baby. Quick as a flash we asked if we could have first refusal when he trades in his current motor for a 'family' car - he has a rather lovely black Audi TT - and I have always fancied one of them!!
