updates on patients....

So I will give you a quick update on our charges.

Mum has had another check-up and now things seem to be progressing as they should.  She has to wear dark glasses at all times which gives her the air of an aging film star and she has to sleep on her left hand side and take things easy but apart from that, at this stage, there is nothing else to report.

I administered her drops this afternoon after we had played pickleball and she is due back to see Mrs Metaxa next Tuesday and at some point she has to have the stitch or stitches removed.

John did ask her when she thought she might have the second eye done but needless to say she is less than enthusiastic about the experience.   Dad is going to bring her up to us for Sunday lunch as planned unless the weather is awful in which case I will pack up the food and take it down to them in Emba.  It seems pointless turning out if they don't need to but I know Mum will be itching to get out from the house even if it is only for a short while.

Charlie, who seemed so very poorly yesterday appears to be almost back to his old self.  This morning he was ready and waiting and shouting for his breakfast.  There is no issue giving him tablets - you just slather them with a bit of pate and he swallows them with absolute relish.  He bounded about all morning before crashing like someone had removed his batteries.  He is now on the third collar in as many days but seems none the worse for his encounter with whichever cat it was - we seem to think there must be a newbie who has yet to learn his/her place in the pecking order.

Sadly Boris has taken up where Charlie left off and is sporting two lacerated ears, a scratched face and head.  At this stage it all looks superficial but we know, to our cost, how easily and injury on Boris can turn nasty.  We will need to keep a watchful eye on him.  He is feeling sorry for himself at the moment poor bub.

The initial reports on Tinks and Judy are positive.  Diana sent this photo that shows them together.  Tinks is a teeny tiny dog who has had a very poor start to her life and so therefore may not settle as quickly as others might.  Diana says that Judy is determined to make it work and as long as Tinks and Carly aren't tearing shreds out of one another then it should turn out fine in the the end and when it does Tinks will be one very lucky little dog.  Fingers crossed.

We had a lovely warm and toasty evening at home after our trip for pickleball and a visit to Mum and Dad.  I took a box of 'something' out of the freezer for our tea and it turned out to be chilli so we warmed up some nachos and cheese and cracked open a bottle of wine before slobbing in front of the fire watching Bancroft and a bit of Apprentice just to while away the hours before John watched Sheffield Wednesday get beaten by Wolves.
