Good times...

Today we were having Nicky and Mark up, as they normally do they will stay overnight and go back to Emba in the morning but not before we have had some fun together.  They are two of the people we have known the longest on the island having made friends when they bought Mum and Dad's house in Emba.  They have busy lives so we manage to get together on special occasions and maybe once every couple of months if we are lucky.  We last saw them at Dad's funeral which seemed to have a profound effect on Nicky.

They arrived in true Kirby fashion - late!  This made no difference to us as we hadn't really planned much except that if they wanted we could have gone down to Latchi for the annual fish festival and then we were to have a meze in the village.  The weather wasn't so good today - not anywhere near as bad as yesterday but at times it looked like it could rain although it didn't.

They said they just wanted to chill and so we arranged to have our meze mid afternoon and strolled down to the village and headed for Finikas.  At this time it was warm and bright and we enjoyed the leisurely stroll down to the village catching up on our respective news.

We had a really lovely afternoon sat in the courtyard eating meze which came, as requested, very slowly giving us time to do it justice.  Poor Phillipos only had one bottle of Agios so John went home and picked up our supply and we drank that once we had polished off the single bottle on offer.  Phillipos didn't seem to mind.  It was really warm in the courtyard - I had taken a cardi but didn't need it.  Full of food and wine we walked home - although that aspect of the afternoon is somewhat hazy.

We returned home for more drinks and started to dig out our favourite music tracks and it all got a bit messy from that point onwards.  Lots of silly dancing and singing I think!

I do remember we managed to play a half reasonable game of Cards Against Humanity before we all decided enough was enough and it was time for bed - no idea what time that was except it was probably something ridiculous like 8.00pm but then we know from experience that Nicky is an early to bed early to rise sort of girl so we are quite happy with that.

I know John and I cleared up after Nicky and Mark had retired and I know I managed to post my blog so I couldn't have been too squiffy but I am so glad I had the sense to take a bottle of water with me as I woke and was completely dehydrated a couple of hours later!

We always have a good time with this pair and we will be penciling in the diary our next get together - that way we know we will be seeing them again rather and have some vague arrangement about ringing one another which never happens once the silly season sets in.
