Saturday

It would appear that in my state of shock I missed blogging about my first Saturday back in the UK for three years.  I think I was still reeling from my monumental cock-up yesterday and the mess up with Mum's flight.

I had arrived safely at my aunt and uncles last night in my rollerskate on wheels and after a good night's sleep had apologised to them because they had invited all their children and grandchildren round as mum was supposed to be there.  They still came even though I felt I had got them there under false pretenses.  It was only a matter of minutes before my cousin Jonathon asked if it was too early to start making inappropriate jokes about missing flights!  Needless to say I didn't find that overly amusing!

To get my own back I am publishing a photograph of Jonathon, Debra and Nicholas taken some 30+ years ago!

After my cousins and their various children had gone my uncle took himself out into the garden where at 85 he stillness likes to grow a selection of vegetables.  My aunt cleared up and so I decided to walk up to the local post box to post a number of letters.  I couldn't decide if I might need my Carlyle but was glad I took it because it began to bucket down with rain.

Everywhere is so green - it is the thing which has struck me most since I arrived.  This busyness is something I miss because even though the island does 'green up' it is nothing on this scale.

I opted for an early night as I wanted to get down to Somerset where hopefully mum would have arrived safe and sound.  As it turned out mum was delayed going into Bristol and having assistance was last off the plane - poor Jane and John clocked up a 20 quid parking bill in the short stay carpark and just when I thought things couldn't get any worse!
