Friday - clean bill of health

John had an appointment with Dr George this morning to discuss the progress being made on his knee.  Dr George was pretty satisfied and to cut a long story short has given John guidance on what he should and should not do with his knee, prescribed some tablets which he is to take for a month and has told him he can come back at any time for a chat or a check-up which will be free of charge.  Dr George did not want to resort to surgery or even injections if medication and physio could do the trick and John was happy with that not wanting anything invasive either.  John really feels that the recent sessions of physio, massage and acupuncture (with and without electricity attached) have really made a difference.  Dr George is happy to provide whatever we need to ensure that our insurance pays for as much of the treatment as possible but to be fair his charges were only €100 which we were more than happy with.

So John dropped me off at Mum's and then took Kenny to Stelco to have them look at the exhaust which has been sounding very noisy of late.  To cut a long story short Ken and I are now proud owners of a new catalytic converter - deep joy - no new shoes/clothes for me for a while then!  John says that should make a real difference with fuel consumption and I bloody well hope so as the price of fuel has begun to rocket - not quite at the dizzy heights of 1.47 which we reached at one point but getting there.

We had a visitor at pickleball today.  Bill Sloan is an American who is house-sitting his way around the world and is currently spending 3 months in Kallepia.  He contacted me to see if he might be able to play with our group and came and had a look on Tuesday when Mum kindly went through all the differences we have incorporated into our game (to accommodate the court size etc).  He came today to play and was great fun even though our scoring and rules confused the hell out of him.  He was enthusiastic and self-deprecating and hopefully enjoyed himself - he is keen to return next Friday so I guess he did.

We were out this evening.  It is our neighbours last night before they return to the UK and after all the coffees, wines and zivanias they had given us we wanted to take them out to say thanks.

We decided to take them to Yiallos as we were going out early and it meant we could sit right by the sea and watch the sun go down.

They had not been previously so this was to be a new experience for them and we are never sure of other people's expectations so we said if nothing else the view would be spectacular which it was.

When we arrived and sat down Akis the owner came over to have a chat, he always comes and speaks to John and I and engaged Lakis and Argy in conversation which they appreciated.

Lakis is suffering with a very bad back which isn't good news if you have a four and a half hour flight ahead of you and Kia fell twice this week so isn't feeling at her best and falls when you are in your eighties can be disastrous.

Anyway we had a lovely evening - everyone seemed to enjoy their food and I have to say my chicken Caesar salad was even bigger last night than the last time I had it.  They loved the place and said they will definitely return - it would be a great place to come with their grandchildren.

You don't get a complete sunset here - the sun slips down at the very last minute behind the headland but as it does it is pretty spectacular and we ended up sitting there a lot longer than we had anticipated - it was just so lovely and we all felt like we were on holiday.
