Friday

I stayed in Emba last night having driven Mum back from our evening of cards at Liselotte and John's.  We had a lovely drive back on what was the Longest Day and I took the scenic route so that we came along the coast road and saw what the tourists were up to.

Mum was up bright and early and went off to Des's for her regular hair appointment so I had a leisurely morning waiting for her return.  Kim had been in touch to say that the hospital hadn't been able to find anything specific wrong with Steve but something was definitely not right and he had refused to stay in overnight.  She had asked John to go down and try and persuade him to go back to see the specialist today and so John was off to theirs for a coffee to see what he could do.

Poor Mum has had awful trouble with the TV as a result of the world cup so I decided that she should try a paid service to see if that was any better - the TV is her company and her lifeline and she has been so frustrated when she sits down to watch something and it just lets her down.  I have arranged for her to have an IPTV system with catch up and it will be installed on Sunday just in time for John to be able to watch the England match (hopefully).

During the course of last night I got into conversation with Liselotte about my art and it wont be too long before my current picture is completed so I wanted to show her some of the other things I have done.

I am particularly proud of the two pictures I did for Mum which she has in the dining room.  We were talking about a photograph which Liselotte's friend Morton had taken of their house whilst standing in the swimming pool and I thought that might be a good subject for me to tackle.

Mum was meeting up with Jackie from Tea for Two this morning and I was going to drop her off and then go to the Mall and get a few bits from Jumbos before joining them.  I thought it would be nice for Mum to do this on her own first so she could have a chat with Jackie without me being there.  They have, after all, known each other a long time.

I did my bit of shopping and joined Mum and as I did Costas came to join us and we had a pleasant hour or so together with Costas keeping us well entertained with his stories about being a restaurant owner!!!  We shall have to squeeze in a dinner together very soon before they are busy with work, family and holidays.  Always good to see the pair of them and so we have a date penciled in the diary for a couple of weeks' time.

The weather was exceptionally hot and muggy and so the Friday afternoon pickleball crew were a right old sweaty bunch today.  We have been joined temporarily by Bill (on the left) who is an American house and pet sitting in Kallepia.  He is struggling to get to grips with our bastardised version of the sport but he is taking it in his stride and enjoying the challenge.

Big thanks to Di for giving me a lift home today - I bet Rob was wondering what had been going on in his beloved RAV4 after we two sweaty bettys had been inside.  Glad to say it was to be a quiet evening as we plan to get the first coat of the eggshell on the bedroom door surrounds in the morning.
