Thursday after wall building

So as I said this afternoon we were meeting up with Claire and Mina at Yiallos in Latchi which is one of our most favourite places.

The weather in June has been very odd - really changeable and although we had a couple of really nice days today wasn't so settled and it looked like we might have some rain in Droushia.  It is always better down on the coast and it was, so much so that we sat down on a table by the sea and then had to move because the sun was too strong when it emerged from behind the clouds.  You can so tell that we are locals!!  Clearly some of the holidaymakers hadn't taken into consideration how easy it is to burn when there is a combination of sun, cloud and rain as witnessed by the fact that there were several people sporting lobster tans and whilst I am on the subject why do holiday making fat men think it is acceptable to eat lunch wearing only swimmers - it is so gross to see their fat physiques on display over a plate of kebab and chips.

We had a great lunch together before Mina and Claire had to return to Giolou and the dog kennels so John and I and Di and Rob wandered down to the ice cream parlour for pudding.  I was gutted that the cinnamon flavour I had had last time wasn't available and can you believe they didn't even have vanilla - I blame the fact that there are too many tourists enjoying my ice-cream and if you know me I don't usually like ice-cream so this must be GOOOOOOOOD!!!

We stopped for a coffee and a catch-up with Di and Rob before returning home.  For all sorts of reasons, not least Dad's passing and friends visiting, our social time with them has been more limited recently, but we know this and come the Autumn when things will be back to some sort of normality we can get back to things like our Droushia Discovery Days.  We aren't going anywhere and neither are they and we all appreciate that we have demands on our time.

Once home I managed to sit through about 10 minutes of the most boring football match I have witnessed in a very long time and that is saying something coming from someone who has been married to a Blades supporter for the best part of 27 years.  I cannot believe that people were even speculating as to whether they had, in fact, played to lose so they got a better passage through the next rounds.  What ever happened to pride in playing for the shirt????
