Last night...

In the early hours of this morning I heard Charlie drag his bulk through the catflap making the unmistakable noise of a cat that was bringing in a 'present' and to be fair I just couldn't be arsed to get up and investigate knowing that my gift would more than likely be deposited under the dining room table for me to discover when I did get up only this morning John got up first and I forgot to tell him that there could be something loitering and there was - the much mangled remains of a largish bird was stuck to the doormat by some sort of bodily fluid and there were feathers everywhere and Charlie was sound asleep with a full belly of bird - no mithering for breakfast this morning he just lay there emitting little birdie burps.

It was a tale of two sides of the island today as Mum took Aunty Joyce and Uncle David down to Sea Caves (someone must have taken their photograph or Mum has got very flash with her photography) - Droushia on the other hand was swathed with a covering of angry cloud - no rain like yesterday but no sun either which isn't good for the PV panels or our hot water situation!  It isn't cold but it isn't that warm either and makes it difficult to know what to wear.

It is Janet, Jackie and Stan's last full day and we had left them 'at leisure' for most of the day but then they were coming up to us and we were taking them and the remainder of my orange cake down to Rob and Di's so that Stan could go on a Bobster tour of their home.  We knew Stan would love it and be so interested in the garden.  We sat outside under the bandstand having coffee and cake before leaving Rob and Di and going to Kathikas so that Jackie and Janet could have a second stab at the ginery!

I was driving tonight - John did his turn last night so the boys had a couple of pints and Jackie chose a really nice Whitley Neill gin which was flavoured with ginger and lemongrass - which is so my sort of thing and Janet chose a Sikkim gin which was flavoured with green apple - both topped up with a Fever Tree tonic which they shared - they were well happy.

We learned this evening what was happening to the old Sports Bar in Kathikas - I am assuming this isn't a secret as Savvas happily told John - it would appear that it is going to be a takeaway where you can get spit roasted chickens - OMG my life is complete - that will be so useful!!!

We had decided to go to the Farmyard for their last meal.  John and I haven't been for a while - for no particular reason although maybe slightly because that was Dad's favourite place to go for Sunday Lunch.  Anyway I have to say that we were well impressed by the service and the food.  We had a nice little round table in the corner which meant it was easier to talk to one another and we had control of the fresh air from both sides!!!  The service was impeccable - Valentina is such an asset to that place - attentive, alert and always smiling.  The food was incredible too - such a huge choice and all perfectly cooked and presented.  John and I opted for Chinese and now realise that our appetites are smaller than we thought - or the portions are larger than they were because after sharing a starter of chicken satay I was already beginning to feel full!!!!  Stan had pea and coriander soup followed by stifado and Jackie had halloumi followed by moussaka and Janet had the biggest rack of ribs I have ever seen!!!  I think it is fair to say that we all over indulged this evening!!!  The visit to the table from the chef asking if everything was ok was a lovely touch too.

So we took them back to Polis for the last time and made our way back home where there was a party in full flow going on at the Droushia Heights with strobe laser lights and Limassol DJ - the lot - there is only one word to describe it LOUD!  We could hear it at home with the windows and doors shut - in fact I slept with the fan on - not because I was cold but to drown out the noise of the bass.  I am guessing there could well be some complaints about it.
