Today the visitors were exposed to a Yiannis Tour which involved a trip along the coast ending up at the beautiful church of Saint Rafael in Pachyammos.  This place holds a very special place in our hearts as it is where John's Mum chose to scatter a few of Hadge's ashes last year.  En route we decided to stop at Koula's Sandwich bar to take in the view and sample some of her fabulous sandwiches which at 4 or 5 euros each are hardly going to break the bank.  I seemed to have a bit of a thick head after last night's evening with Malc and Louise so her cheeseburger absolutely hit the spot.

We made our way slowly along the coastline taking in the views before we eventually made it to the church.  It was incredibly hot today but there is talk of a change in the weather tomorrow as the island may just get the tail end of the 'medicane' which is about to batter Greece and Turkey.

If you are ever on the island I would recommend that you take the time to go and visit this church and look at the amazing murals that cover every inch of the inside.  They tell the stories of the fates of saints and believers who were punished and tortured for their faith.  In one area there is a saint being crucified upside down!  For the second time recently the guide book which Argy's mum bought me came in very helpful.

We spent some time in quiet contemplation sitting under the tree with the 'eyes' which is situated at the back of the church overlooking the coast thinking about those loved ones who are no longer with us.  It is a beautiful and peaceful spot.

We then decided to go back to Pomos and take a walk around the harbour and then go and have a drink in the taverna above because we were all melting.

John was busy explaining to Stan and Jackie how we had been lucky enough to come here one day and actually see a turtle and then have the opportunity to swim with it.  As he was busy explaining he suddenly realised that there was a live turtle swimming around amongst the boats so although I didn't get the chance to photograph it we did see it and that was fabulous.  In fact in total it made an appearance about three times before we reckon it moved out from the harbour into deeper water and away.

I don't know if you can tell from this photograph but we saw squid - just at the causeway there was a small shoal of about half a dozen which are not easy to photograph when all you have is your phone but right in the middle of this picture is a squid.  You have to be careful on the causeway - where the water comes in and out it can be very slippy - indeed this was the place where George and Pam went with relatives and they ended up falling over into the water and losing their phone.

It was actually too hot to linger at the harbourside so we went back up to the taverna for a refreshing drink and to take in that fabulous view.  Yiannis was in a laid back mood today so he allowed us to take our time and relax - actually I think even he was feeling the heat today!

It was here that we introduced our visitors to the delights of a brandy sour - my dad used to make a really good one - there is a real art to getting the mix right particularly when it comes to the bitters.  They all seemed to enjoy it.

We dropped them off back at their villa and went to Paps to get some food ready for tomorrow when we plan a barbeque and bumped into Di and Rob and had a chat over the cucumbers!!!  Di is feeling a bit out of sorts - I hope it is only a temporary thing because I missed her at pickleball on Friday.

Footie when we returned home and the pleasure/pain of being a Blades supporter who missed a penalty, then scored a goal, conceded two, scored the next penalty and then managed to get a win!!!
