Autumn weather...

It was a sunny start to the day but that was not to last - rain had been forecast for later this week but it came early.  I am not so bothered to be fair, as parts of the garden need a good drink and there is nothing better than fresh rain.  I didn't have the best night's sleep although not sure why - I think maybe I am conscious of Les Dawson playing the Pompey chimes in the lounge!!

We were having an admin day today but it started with a quick trip to Giolou to meet up with Mina and Claire.  I had asked Claire to make me something - I don't want to divulge exactly what just yet as John and I have a little work to do to complete it and not because Claire didn't because we said we would.  Mina and Claire were en route to Larnaca so we had a little rendez-vous at the top of their main road for the official handover!

I know that some of the shopping and amenities in Polis are limited but I love going down there because everyone is so very friendly.  We had to go to both the Alpha bank and the Co-op and in the Alpha were are greeted like old friends, nothing seems to be too much trouble and they are happy to help wherever they can.  In the Co-op it must have been the equivalent to pension day as although there was no queue in front of us those being served were there to chat for as long as they wanted - we weren't in a rush so we weren't overly bothered.  John went off to the car parts place to speak to Andreas and see if we can find the parts we need for Kenny and I went off to CYTA to see about changing our direct debit from the Co-op to Alpha.  I had anticipated lots of paperwork but no! the woman just took a copy of an Alpha bank statement and said she would do the rest!

We ticked everything off of the list without any stress or strain and returned home with a nice warm fuzzy feeling.  We had splashed out on a corn loaf today, only because there was no Vienna bread and what a decision that was - the bread made the scrummiest lunchtime sandwiches - I could have eaten the whole bloomin' loaf on my own.

I had offered to go down to Judi's this afternoon to help set up her new phone and her new laptop.  At this point the weather was beginning to change even though I had just asked John if any was forecast here this afternoon and he had said NO!!!  You could see angry clouds bubbling up over the hills but you could still see the coastline - this didn't last and within about five minutes all the views were obliterated and we had heavy rain.

Judi's three legged toothless dog Louka is recovering from dog-flu so was all wrapped up against the elements.  He is such a cutie and a great companion for Judi.  We were faced with a few challenges this afternoon but nothing that we can't overcome but by the end of the afternoon we had the laptop up and accessing the bank accounts which is what Judi wanted.  I shall return to complete the jobs in due course.

Whilst there I had a call from the Cyprus Handicraft Centre to say that we have to attend the community office tomorrow for instruction on our forthcoming weaving course.  I can't wait as I have always wanted to have a go at doing this and am happy that Di will be coming and Kelly will be there to act as interpreter as apparently the woman taking us 'Stella' doesn't speak much English.  Regular readers will remember that in the past I have mastered Gourd Carving, Basket Weaving and Traditional Mosaicing for which I have a certificate!!!

We were brave bunnies tonight and stayed up beyond 8.30pm which has been a regular retiring time just recently (probably because we get up so early).  We have started to watch The Cry and managed two episodes.
