Winter weather returns...

Today started, as so many have recently, full of sunshine promise!!!  So much so that I shoved all the bedding into the wash and flung open the windows and doors and felt full of the joys of Spring.  We decided that before Mum came up we would go and check out the cemetery to see how dry it was, or not as the case may be, for tomorrow which is the first anniversary of his passing.

The area around Dad's grave wasn't too bad - a bit sticky in places but with the morning sunshine I was hopeful that it would be good and dry tomorrow.  I could hear a strange sound and thought it sounded like water dripping and then we realised there was a small fire up against the wall where people throw their old flowers, flower pots etc and so we reckon it must have been lit on purpose - fortunately it was never going to get out of hand.

We had company at the cemetery.  I thought this little dog was the same one that I have seen on numerous occasions at the house where Bella used to live - in fact this dog looks very similar to Bella and several months ago I had seen three tiny little puppies running around there but I thought Luscious Lynda had said they now only had one remaining now.

We debated as to whether to put it in the boot of the car and take it back to its home as it was a bit out of its normal roaming area but although it was friendly enough it kept running out of reach so we left it and then as we were driving past Bella's house the dog was there which was confusing because I cannot think that it could have made it from the cemetery to the house in that time so I reckon they have two dogs that look identical.  Sadly it would appear that neither of them have any better road sense than Bella so will probably end up getting knocked over like she did.

Anyway we are all sorted for tomorrow and going up to the cemetery with Mum before we go down to Latchi for some lunch in memory of Dad.

Mum arrived safe and sound but shortly after her arrival the weather nosedived and we had a terrible hail storm and driving rain and it was a quick dash outside to get the washing in and turn the conservatory into a Chinese laundry.  It is all so disappointing and currently it is drier and warmer in the UK which isn't good as Jane and John arrive here on Tuesday and last time they came they had terrible weather for the most part and as keen walkers that isn't good.

This week Tavernaki Villa 10b served stifado with some rubbish Yorkshire puddings which seemed to be making a bid for freedom from the pan rather than cooking, carrots, peas and roasted baby new potatoes in their skins which were lovely.  The new recipe banana cake was pretty good, maybe a bit drier than the one I normally make but tasty none the less.

We were glad when the weather pulled itself together and it stopped with its hail and rain and we had a little weak sunshine instead.  We have our fingers crossed that it will be better tomorrow.  Mum took the opportunity to leave whilst it was still reasonable and got home safe and sound which was good news.

We settled down to watch some catch-up before calling it a day - tomorrow is going to be a bit emotional I think so some programmes that needed little by way of concentration were absolutely ideal.

Charlie and Boo were taking advantage of the gas fire and for some reason Boo insists on sleeping on a bit of my crochet.  Last night he came in soaking wet again like he had fallen in a pool - as with the last time only from his shoulders downwards were wet - his tail so soaking it looked like a bootlace.  I really would like to know what is happening to him because I worry that, if he is falling into a pool, he may drown or get so cold fall seriously ill.  Last night we towelled him down and put him in a basket by the fire until he dried out so knew he was safe and sound.

We have been enjoying Escape to the Chateau and Escape to the Chateau DIY  - this fills John with dread because I then get all sorts of ideas about things I would like to do to our house which, as I pointed out, is super tiny so how difficult can these things be???
