A Snowman in April...

Somebody somewhere is having a bloody laugh with the weather - don't ask me to get concerned about global warming because it ain't happening here - with sub tropical temperatures in the UK we are having more like sub-zero when we were treated to yet another mega hail storm this morning.  This time the hail was the size of conkers on steroids and once again my poor garden got hammered.  Welcome to Droushia in the spring - thermals required 😞😞😞  I have warned my sister who arrives at the end of next week.

If you don't believe me about the weather then take a look at my hastily assembled snowman which I made before breakfast Nicky and Mark couldn't believe it!!! They stayed for crumpets and coffee before making their way back down to Paphos - I am guessing they were going to be hoping to see some sunshine!!!

It is Easter Sunday in the UK.  It is Cypriot Easter next weekend.  We had arranged to go down to Tavernaki and meet up with Melanie, Simon and the girls, Jasmine and Frances.

You cannot believe the change round in the weather from the storms earlier this morning to the blue skies which greeted us as we drove towards Stroumbi on the stretch of road where you can see the sea from both sides.  You cannot be fooled by the beautiful blue skies though, the wind has a real chill to it and looking at the white horses licking around the beach at Argaka that would indicate that the wind is from the North so likely to be cold.

In our excitement to get down to Tavernaki I forgot that we had Easter eggs in the fridge for the girls - thank goodness that Mum remembered hers!!!  Still the kids did well out of us as we gave them some moeny to make up for it so that they could buy themselves and ice-cream when they went down to the harbour tomorrow.

It was a bit like a meeting of the old residents of Lakoudia Street as Ray and Janice (who lived behind mum and dad and next to Simon and Melanie) were also in there!

Tavernaki has recently moved up the road from its previous location which was a small taverna which, over the years,  like Topsy had grown and it is now located in the much larger purpose built Acropolis building on the Tremithousa and Mesoghi crossroads.  Personally I think I preferred it when it was smaller and a bit haphazard - you don't get such an impressive amount of food as you did previously (the flambe'd pineapple appears to be a thing of the past) and it seems to be lacking some atmosphere maybe that is on a Sunday and in the week it is better but I am not convinced that the move has been 100% a positive one but maybe that's just me.

Jasmine and Frances had bought Mum, John and I some Easter chocolate - we all had a Ferrero Rocher Bunny presented in a Flamingo bag!!!! I am hoping that John won't want his!!!  Anyway we had a nice lunch and next time we meet we are going to go to Simon and Melanie's house in Tala and John has been challenged to get onto the inflatable Unicorn they have in the pool and I have been allocated the inflatable Chameleon!

Mum got home safe and sound - it wasn't far for her to travel so that was good.  I have to get my thinking cap on now as to what I am going to cook next Sunday when Kaye will be here.

On our return we were impressed by what Sharon and Sean have done to the front of their new house.  They have cleared the garden and put a line of 'sets' around the edge to make it look clean and tidy.  The clean lines and fresh paint, new door and shutters have made a vast difference and they have worked really hard to get to this position in a relatively short period of time.  We think the people who have bought 4a were there yesterday - there was a truck outside and a guy we did not recognise talking to Sean.  There was also a woman with a small child walking around so it looks like there is going to be a family in there and we think they are English.
