So today was the day that we were taking Chivers for his check-up and hopefully get the ok from the Vet for him to be allowed outside. Chivers must have known because although he slept well he was awake early and anxious that we should be awake too. I got up to sort him out and get a coffee because it was early. The sun was creeping up over the mountains Lysos way and I was hopeful we would have a nice day. Sheila and Klaus have family members from Germany over staying at the Spa so fingers crossed they will have some nice weather.

We were down at the vets not long after it had opened. Chivers had wailed all the way down in the car but the minute we got him into the building he was a quiet as a mouse - typical. The new vet Suzanna is lovely and she clearly had a bit of a soft spot for Chivers which was nice for us to see.
She was pleased with his progress but could only remove one stitch because Chivers had bitten the ends off of one, burst another and lost his two staples. Apparently he has two sets of stitches, internal and external and they will all dissolve in due course. She said his external scar (which was about and inch and a half long) belied the fact that his internal injuries were pretty major as whatever he had impaled himself on had gone in sideways and pierced through one of his mammary glands and caused severe bruising and damage. Poor Chivers, we had no idea that he had been carrying this injury for a couple of days before we noticed the wound - he never gave us any indication that he was in pain bless him. Suzanna told us that the sore red patch he has is because he is licking it but it would heal and everything else was fine although he had lost a bit of weight. She wanted us to keep an eye on him for today and then he would be fine to go back to normal and roam around - hopefully steering clear of anything that could do him any harm.

Having got home we contacted the supplier of our TV system because we had been having a couple of issues with the time since he suffered a Cyber attack a few days ago. We were in the middle of doing some tests and changes when we realised we had lost our internet completely. We had been running on half speed since the weekend so John went out into the estate to check if anything was going on and found the CYTA had turned up to see what our issue was. We had an engineer and a young lad who was doing work experience both of whom were pleasant although the engineer was clearly getting a bit weary of explaining everything to the YTS lad!!
Anyway they explained that everything from the outside to the socket in the lounge was their responsibility and then beyond that it would be ours and for us to pay for. Happily there was a cable breaking down which went from the box outside to the socket and so they replaced that and we tested everything was working and working correctly and they went on their way. We then switched everything off so we could push the cables back and put the bookcase in the right place and bugger me the bloody internet refused to work. It too a little investigation before we worked out John had replaced the cables in the back of the router incorrectly!!

I can't say I was unhappy about that - it was so lovely to stand and warm my bum in front of it and the whole lounge/dining room/ kitchen area felt toasty warm - there is nothing worse than sitting feeling cold and with the weather so damp and miserable we weren't going to be doing any jobs outside today.
Chivers seemed to sense that everything was good - maybe because we hadn't been checking his wound so often or maybe we were just more relaxed with him. He took himself off to one of the baskets in the conservatory and settled down for the afternoon - you can see the very end of his scar - the worse bit is hidden by his leg - it looks red and raw but Suzanna says that will settle down very soon.
We were having fridge/freezer surprise this evening - we are doing a shop tomorrow so I was having to make do with what I could find! We had new potatoes crushed in minted butter, garden peas and Thai Salmon fishcake with a topping of hot tomatoes in balsamic cream with a bit of sweet chilli on the side! It was all very nice but I think the fishcakes are not as good as they used to be - I get them from the Seafood shop which I think is classed as being in Kissonerga although it is on the coast road. They seem to be smaller and less tasty than they used to be - although maybe it was just this batch.
Having enjoyed watching Victim yesterday we started on Baptiste - we first met that character when we watched The Missing. We managed to squeeze in 4 of the 6 episodes and it certainly didn't disappoint - twists and turns, intrigue and violence - can't wait to watch the rest tomorrow.
