Our Wedding Anniversary...

Today it is our 28th Wedding anniversary - who would have thought it!!!!  28 years since we tied the knot over the Anvil in Gretna Green and I don't think we would have believed it if someone had told us we would end up living here in Cyprus retired - things could be so much worse!!!  I have chosen this photograph of John and I - it was taken nearly 30 years ago before we got married - our first New Year together when we hired fancy dress outfits for the evening and John wanted to get his monies worth so insisted that we wore them all day.  He hadn't realised quite how difficult it was going to be to drink a pint wearing a wolf's head but felt pretty comfortable in the flannel nightdress and his trusty slippers - perhaps this penchant for fancy dress should have rung some warning bells with me because John has worn some pretty spectacular over the past 30 years!!!

Not only was it our anniversary today but it marked a special occasion for our great nephew Jack who 'graduated' from Nursery School and will go to 'big' school after the summer break.  Blimey where has that time gone?

He is the super cute smiley one in the centre of the picture.  Interestingly although he is growing up and getting taller his face has changed very little over the years so that if you see photographs of him when he was a baby he looks pretty much the same - super cute and smiley!

I must thank Mum for our generous cash gift for our anniversary.  We are trying to decide what to buy with it as we want it to be something special not just lost on shopping or a meal.

We had our regular pickleball session today with Moreton instead of John who was keeping Lena company on the sunbeds and by the gin.  It was a good session - a bit hot and sticky but Liselotte gave us all a home grown organic honeydew melon which was very kind - apparently they were given a growing boost whilst they were all in the occupied North at the weekend.

On our return home we had a quick change and then John took me to the Gin Palace in Kathikas via the Farmyard to pick up a current Chinese/Thai takeaway menu.

John's mum had very kindly got Savvas a Peaky Blinders T-Shirt as he had made a big thing about the one that John was wearing the other week.  We took the opportunity to give it to him and he was super chuffed with it.  We sat in the bar watching the world go by and for once I wasn't driving so got the opportunity of having a sneaky Moscow Mule (gin and ginger beer) as an aperitif.

We rang through our order and waited until we thought it would be ready.  It's difficult to chose for others and difficult to work out exactly how much food you will get and how much people will eat and even though we had the Bobster and his mighty appetite coming we still managed to grossly over-order!

We plumped for prawn crackers, honeyed spare ribs, chicken satay and spare ribs to start and then kung-po chicken, prid pak pork, beef in black bean sauce and a massaman curry with plain rice, egg fried rice and plan noodles.

As we stood and waited John decided to peruse the display of specialist gins Savvas cleverly has on display just where you will see it and as a treat to himself he purchased the Hayman's Gin which is 'Navy' strength and so 57% as opposed to 40% - so will be for special occasions only.

We had a lovely evening - great company and great food - I am not sure we ever really found out which character in the Carry On films had a daffodil up his bottom but it was the subject of some debate!!  I can't believe how quickly the time went by and before we knew it Saturday morning was upon us!!
