All a bit tired...

It was a rather late night all in all because the singing from the festival continued until 2.30am and I heard it all.  John slept on the day bed where the music didn't bother him but the buzz buzz buzz of the bird scarer did.  We were all pretty tired this morning but we had things to do so had to be up and at 'em.  The cats on the other hand had their own ideas as to how the day should be spent.  I am not surprised they are all knackered as they seem to spend their evenings schlepping around the neighbourhood endearing themselves to anyone who will take them in!!!  I regularly get photographs of Charlie getting comfortable in Persephone's house and tonight was no exception.

Even little Minnie Mou got in on the snoozing act - and she can be seen here, away with the fairies, resting her chin on her back leg.  She does not go visiting - she is too skittish and for that we are sometimes very grateful.  On the subject of local cats Donut from up the road has been missing for ages - he is age unknown as he appeared as a bedraggled mess the first year we were here.  He periodically gets shaved because he has so much fur he cannot deal with it when burrs get caught.  Anyway I was pleased to hear that he returned yesterday, skin and bone but back.  Maybe he got shut in somewhere where he managed to get enough water to survive.  We will never know.

Today is the first week that Mum has no pickleball and no shop so she finds it difficult to fill her time  Kindly Di and Rob met her for lunch yesterday which she really enjoyed and today I had organised to have my eyes tested and hair cut down her way so she would not be along all day today either.  It would have been better to spread out the visits this week and make it on Thursday but it is a major bank holiday here (The Ascension of the Virgin Mary) and so most places are shut.  My hairdresser did offer to come in on her day off but that wasn't necessary.

My optician is located in the Old Town so that is where we headed first, this enabled me to get my eyes tested and a new prescription is required as there has been quite a change to my eyesight.  I didn't need him to tell me that - I was seeing mid and long distance without my glasses but my near sight is shocking and sometimes I have found it hard to adjust from looking at things close up to looking at things far away.

We also managed to get Lakis's chain dropped off for the catch to be replaced as the repair didn't work, the battery in Mum's car key fob exchanged because she had been having difficulties with it working only sporadically and finally a master class for her with the ATM machine which we thought she should know how to use just in case she needed money and the banks were closed like they will be tomorrow.  All very successful and, over lunch, I managed to make some changes on her Doro Smart Phone so that she could hear video calls more easily.

It was cloudier today - the weather forecast was correct but it didn't make it any less humid down on the coast.  This has not stopped the masses from heading to the beach - this is a picture of Coral Bay where you can just about put a pin between the brollies!!!  This is a really popular area but there have been ongoing disputes about the parking areas and the facilities which have made it less than attractive at times.

I was glad to be able to get my haircut in - John was not so fortunate this week as both the barber he usually sees in Polis was packed to the rafters and the barber in the village seems to be on holiday - he is now sporting a full on Michael Heseltine quiff - I know that Lumi could have tamed it but he really wants to go back to Polis as he likes the 'craic' and he gets a bit of local gossip whilst he is in there.

John was invited to go and watch the football tonight round at Lakis's with Lakis's best mate Costas and he fully intended to go but at around 9.30pm he was checking the inside of his eyelids for pinholes so that was a non-starter.  Just as well as the game went to extra time and penalties.

A quiet day tomorrow as it is Bank Holiday - we must pop our heads around the door and catch up with Andrew Kailou and he family - we haven't actually seen them yet to have a chat but they are here for 2 weeks so there is plenty of time and we have to go across and say goodbye to Costas before he returns to the UK.
