It is Sunday - we are having another heatwave which is set to last until Wednesday. It seems ridiculously hot at times and we are so glad for the swimming pool to cool down. Today we had invited Melanie, Simon and the girls to join us for lunch with Granny Mo and to have a swim.
Jasmine and Frances are water babies and as they don't have a swimming pool at their holiday home in Droushia didn't need any persuading to get in for a swim. Only trouble is that they both want Uncle John and Daddy Simon to join them. Even Melanie got in on the act and was grateful for the opportunity to cool down.
I had got most of the food prepared in advance this morning so that John only had to warm the meat through on the barbeque - the potatoes were in and the salad made so we were just awaiting Granny Mo to join the party. The girls still cannot understand why Granny Mo didn't come and join them on the Kayak earlier in the week.
Bless Mum she had bought her colouring book with her to keep Jasmine and Frances entertained and had a little gift for them once they had completed their projects. The girls love to have that sort of attention and nowadays show little to no shyness when in Mum's company - or ours for that matter - we obviously give off the right sort of vibes because we don't see them that often.
The girls are also mesmerised by the cats - Boris is terrified of them so runs off at the earliest opportunity, Charlie however fears lack of food much more than he fears small children so he was around and about most of the day and we allowed them to feed him after we had had our lunch. Minnie and Chivers had obviously found a nice quiet spot somewhere they could not be disturbed.
We had a lovely afternoon and lunch went down well - everyone found something they wanted to eat - Frances is a sausage lover, Jasmine refers taramasalata! And we must thank George and Pam because we borrowed two plastic chairs so that we could seat the girls at the end of our dining table. They will be returned in time for Andrew's arrival tomorrow!!

Jasmine was more than happy to fill in one of Mum's colouring book pages and did so beautifully. The more maverick Frances decided to go off piste and do a picture of Mum and her cat Fred. Her attention to detail was amazing as Mum was indeed wearing a rectangular necklace and a dress in the colours chosen. I did say that Mum might want to have a word with her hairdresser Des as Mum had a look of Dierdre Barlow about her in the picture. Fred is a big cat granted but maybe not quite so big as in the picture!!!
We said goodbye to the Rogers' family - they are off to the UK tomorrow and bless Simon he has promised Mum he will take a photograph of the Tregunna family memorial bench in East Portholland when he passes by on one of his runs.
Mum returned home shortly afterwards and arrived safely. I will be seeing her on Wednesday this week to help break the monotony as she has no pickleball or shop for a couple of weeks.

I am just going to end my blog with these pictures - Charlie is ecstatic that Persephone and her family are here because he mooches round and goes and gets some love, attention and food from them.
This is Neofitos, Persephone's son who is taking medicine at Cambridge University - he was no more than a teenager when we first moved here and now he is a strapping young man and loves Charlie and Charlie loves him.
The picture on the left was taken today - the photo on the right was taken before Charlie got knocked over - you can see that there is a difference in the left hand side of his face as it still does not work properly but he is still a cutie and I think a little thinner in the more recent photograph (Charlie not Neofitos!!).
