A new week begins...

Although the days are sunny and bright there is a definite Autumnal feel in Droushia - the super elongated shadows bear witness to this - I was walking into the village for art when I took this one.  It occurred to me that before we know it I will be making that same journey in bright sunshine but when I look behind me over to the Troodos there will be snow on the hills!!  The pool is now hovering around 26 degrees and it is fresh to get in to say the least - lord knows what it would feel like if we didn't have our super-dooper new cover!

I couldn't see the horse today, she has been moved back away from the road so it is more difficult to get to her although I know John will try and we have a fridge full of cucumbers and carrots which have been earmarked for her.

The people who stay in the portakabin were here this morning - I am guessing that they are packing the property away after being here for their summer holidays.  There was certainly someone who looked like a 'maid' wandering around being given instructions.

If I had not already had the feeling that we were into Autumn the landscape would give it away as the land is brown and parched and there are rolls of hay dotted about.  The view across to the Bay was hazy today and there were light puffy clouds.  There had been local talk of high winds, indeed some people had suggested that if you were planning a boat trip it might be wise to rearrange.  As it turned out there was no more than a gentle breeze - at least in Droushia.

There is some real colour in the village mainly provided by the bougainvilleas which are in full colour, I cannot really say bloom as the flowers are fairly insignificant - it is the bracts that are the colourful bit.

I am nearing the end of my artichoke picture and although I said to Sheila I didn't think I had accomplished very much this week it is always good to compare where I am with where I was the last time I worked on it.  I am really liking this picture but am now in a quandary as to what to tackle next - I am thinking maybe a sunflower but although I like the shape I am not keen on the colours - I shall start my search now although I am a bit stymied because I am awaiting the delivery of my new printer and I am not going to buy any ink cartridges for the old one.

After art John and I wandered down to Polis to catch up with his mum, Jacky and Stan now that they have had a sleep and time to settle in.

They are fine - and now ready to start planning on how to spend the next three weeks.  Jacky has noted down some of the places we have mentioned in the blog as possible destinations and I know Mum is keen to take them out a couple of times as well - at this rate they will be booked up before we know it - still they are more than happy to entertain themselves so we do not feel we have to spend every moment with them.

They had decided to wander up to the square this evening to go and eat at the newly refurbished Finnikas.  They will be doing something we have not yet managed to do so will be keen to get their opinion on it - we did go on a number of occasions with Janet and Hadge previously.  We have also arranged for them to come up tomorrow afternoon and then I will cook some tea - we had decided upon ribs, wedges and coleslaw as it is something everyone enjoys and after my success with them the other day I am happy to cook them again.

I shall leave with a picture of the plants I have been babysitting for Liselotte - they are looking fine and healthy so her husband John needs just to tick them over for a couple more days when she returns from her travels.  Phew - as she cannot get this type of lavender any more I am glad that they survived and thrived.
