Too poorly to cook...

Today we were having a day at home which was good because I think I should have rested my foot more than I have done.  By the end of yesterday it had swollen up and I had to undo my shoe otherwise I thought I was going to cut the circulation off!!  John made me rest with my foot elevated and I slapped on everything from Voltarol to the Tiger Balm that Mum had given me.  I am now fed up with the pain and the lack of mobility.  I haven't ever done anything like this before so it is difficult to be confined to barracks in this way but John has warned me that if I am not a good patient and do as I am told then it will go on even longer!!!

I was a good girl but couldn't lounge around all day because we had a dentist appointment down in Peyia at 4.30pm.  I had lost a bit of filling some time ago so knew I was going to have to get that done but it was a quick process what wasn't quite so nice was that the side of my tongue got frozen by the soda sandblasting stuff that is used to take the stains off of your teeth although it didn't last long.  John got his teeth cleaned and asked for an x-ray so that Dr Harris would know about the teeth he has lurking up in his gums which have never come through.  Dr Harris thought that was a good idea and even better didn't charge for it.  Dr Harris is such a nice guy he makes going to the dentist much easier than it might otherwise be.

Our autumnal weather leads to some spectacular sunsets and today was no exception.  As we drove back along Banana Bay we watched the sun slip down through some purple clouds and into the sea - there was a brief spell of twilight before we were into darkness - this is coming much earlier nowadays - we currently get about 12 hours of daylight as the sun rises about 7.00am.

We had toyed with the idea of getting some food from Paps bakery at the traffic lights but we went  home the other way because we had decided to phone through a takeaway order from Fitos so we could have that as soon as we got in.

We opted for 'mixed' so for that you get sheftalia and pork kebab with salad in a pitta - I don't know how they managed to get so much inside - once unwrapped the contents spilled out onto the plate and looked twice as much!!  We had made the mistake of asking for chips as well - a mistake only because we weren't ever going to eat it all but the chips were am-az-ing!!!

John was a happy chappy because he was saved from having to have yet another black-eyed bean creation - our shopping routine has gone somewhat out of the window with guests and eating out so the cupboards are getting pretty empty and irritatingly I had to throw out some bacon today that had been bought but not used and had now gone beyond any saving.
