The Three Stooges...

There were clearly some issues with the 'Royal' residence at Lordos 1.  We were woken by the dulcet tones of Moe, Larry and Curly up on the roof.  Moe was clutching his Boy scout badge for solar heating and a quizzical expression, Larry was smoking a fag and had his hands in his pockets and Curly was busy lobbing old tiles over the back of the house into the Green Area beyond.  Deep Joy!

It would appear, from what we could see, that there was a fairly major issue with the roof of both 3a and 3b.  We are not surprised as the dubious building practises coupled with the quality or work, or rather lack of it, were nothing more than a disaster waiting to happen.

With all the rain and winds we have had over the last couple of weeks most houses and gardens have suffered the consequences.  Most of us do the best we can with the finances we have available to us in order to make our houses as sound as possible, we achieve this by doing our homework and talking to other people and sharing experiences and resolutions before making a decision and getting work done which makes me wonder why, if you have had a dodgy job done once by 'workmen' you continue to use them throwing good money after bad? and thereby end up with a patchwork of repairs - there is a simple answer - the 'workmen' are cheap and you presumably know nothing about building and do not wish to discuss it with others!!!

The repair work continued for most of the day - the Lord and Lady of the Manor choosing to go out and avoid the irritating sound of the tile cutter although I rather wish they had been here to witness the lobbing of the old tiles into the Green Area - I caught it on camera so that the next time there is a conversation about the state of that piece of communal land I shall have evidence that the crap is down to them.

I had set aside today to start packing for my upcoming trip to the UK.  Initially I had intended only to take hand luggage but the price of the fare was so cheap I decided to splash out and also book a suitcase so that I can bring back with me all sorts of goodies which I cannot get here or cannot afford to get here.  I have noticed a dramatic increase in the cost of getting goods over from Amazon or Ebay so this is my opportunity to grab some things which we need.  My plan is to just pack what I need in my hand luggage and put that bag in the suitcase going out then I will have two bags which I can fill for the trip back.  Hazel says all sorts of packages keep arriving for me - she takes them in but doesn't open them although she can - she says it will be like Christmas when I come - I want to say to her if it was like Christmas these parcels would be stuck somewhere in Germany and arrive after the event or not at all!!!  It is difficult to think what I am going to need.  Houses, cars and shops in the UK all tend to be warm so I shall take layers and pack my trusty pack-a-mac and if there is anything else I want or need I shall just go and buy it!!  I did chuck some stuff into my bag which is just as well because Nicky and Mark are coming over to stay on Saturday so I need to get the bag sorted and out of the way.

It was a brighter and drier day today thank goodness and the forecast looks good for a few days but thanks to a couple of disturbed night's sleep, due to power outages, we were a bit tired so we spent the afternoon watching a couple of films, both of which were ones which we think Mum would enjoy.  We have to use a streaming service for our films and for some reason recently we seem to have got embedded Spanish subtitles on the ones which we have chosen - it is a bit of a distraction but on the positive side we are now fluent in Espagnol!!  If you watch The Bookshop stick with it - it is a slow burner.
