Today is Sunday and the forecast bad weather has not materialised thank goodness so it is business as usual and Mum is coming for lunch. Every week we have this ongoing leg-pull that we are going to serve her Stargazy Pie - which is a traditional Cornish dish and as many of you will know my lovely Dad was from Cornwall. It would have been on this Sunday two years' ago that my Dad sadly and unexpectedly passed away - the exact date is Tuesday, the 25th which also happens to be the birthday of Mum and Dad's only great-grandchild Jack.
Dad loved his food, really loved his food and so it was always a real pleasure to cook for him on a Sunday. On the day that he died we had planned to serve a fabulous forerib of beef but sadly that never happened. One of his favourite dishes was a good old fashioned Steak and Ale Pie and so today, in his memory, that was what I had made but John thought it would be funny to decorate it with some fish and try and fool Mum that today was the day for the Stargazy Pie - John thought it would be funny but I am not entirely sure that Mum always gets his sense of humour - having said that he loves her to bits and is always looking out for her - she may not always realise that! Anyway as sons-in-law go he is a good'un.

The sunshine meant that we were able to sit in the conservatory after lunch. I know I say it all the time but we would be so lost without that room. Mr Boo was certainly making the most of it!!!Tomorrow John is going to go down to the wood-yard to get the rest of the wood we need to panel the other side. There isn't really much else we can do with that space save freshen it up with a bit of paint now and again and there is an aluminium panel which we think we should get insulated because it tends to sweat a bit if the temperature drops outside and it is warm inside.
Mum got home safe and sound. She will be coming back up on Tuesday and we are going to Fitos for lunch - Dad would approve as he liked to go there. We are sorting out the flower trough at his grave because it could do with some fresh plants so will go there first and then go for lunch.
This evening, on the recommendation of my lovely friend Hazel, we embarked on the Netflix Series called The Stranger. We are two episodes in, absolutely gripped but totally confused - can't wait to see how it all pans out and hopefully we will be able to find a TV series based on a book by the same author Harlan Coben called Safe to watch afterwards. Oh I do love a good series!!
