Easter Saturday - for what it is worth. Just another day of lockdown for us.You know that you are running out of things to do when the highlight of your day is dragging the lounge rug out onto a 'flat' area so that you can give it a clean. Blooming heck I paid for someone to do that for me last year!!!
So I got the rug out into the garden and gave it a hoover to within an inch of its life and then got a stiff brush and a bowl of soapy water and scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed and then John gave me a 'tool' like a squeegy thing to scrape over the surface to zhuzh up the pile. I have to say it came out really well and now everyone, and I mean everyone, is banned from stepping on it!!!

John spent the best part of the day working on the 'potting' bench which is to replace the anniversary bench outside the kitchen door.Said bench was put up temporarily for our 25th Wedding anniversary and had remained there for nearly four years. The new baby is going to be much nicer and will hide the recycling and bin and look more aesthetically pleasing!!! It was hot work as it was a glorious day and John managed to get the concrete done and the first couple of blocks in situ before calling it a day.
We were knackered and so managed to have supper and watched a film (The Sapphires) before turning in for an early night - John wants to do the remainder of the blockwork before the sun gets too high tomorrow.
The Ration Book Says...
A sense of humour helped people get by. Before the war there was a popular song called "Yes we have no bananas" and during the war shopkeepers would display the title in their windows as bananas were a great rarity for years.
