Star Wars Day - May 4th

Sonia's builders are getting on a pace at 1a - so much so that they were keen that the pool equipment and the pump house shed are removed sooner rather than later.  Marky Mark had agreed to buy the bits and pieces for 9b but he is currently unable to come up here and sort things out so John said he would do it by which he meant that, when it came to the shed, he and I would do it.  Now you wouldn't think transporting that shed could cause so much angst but this shed still had some heavy 'stuff' attached inside so the plan was that we got it on the wheelbarrow and I pushed and John was at the front steadying the load - let's just say that I could see nothing, I couldn't keep the barrow parallel to the shed which was swaying dangerously and when I told John to STOP he moaned like hell.  We did get it down from 1a to 9b and up and over the retaining wall and into the garden but not without WORDS.

I escaped down to Polis - we are now allowed out three times a day with permission although there is still a curfew in place but now from 10.00pm until 6.00pm.  I had my delivery from The Beauty Shop in Paphos.  I wanted to get the Dove Deodorant which John uses and which is an arm and a leg elsewhere and the shampoo and conditioner I like along with some antibacterial hand wash.  I had to make the order up to 30 euros which was no problem (this is just a selection of what was inside and not all of it) and then the delivery to ACS in Polis was free of charge.  Whilst there I managed to get into Glykkis and pick up some DIY bits and pieces we needed for our next bit job of painting the railings up top.

As we are now allowed out more often we took the opportunity to go for a walk and get some exercise.

We didn't go very far - just a circuitous route around the village to collect the post and check on Dad but boy it made my legs ache.

The colours seemed so much more vibrant than before.  The wild flowers look amazing and even Marina and Phillipos's front door seemed to have had a lick of paint which made it stand out - it looked so pretty with its Easter wreath hanging outside.

There has been no noticeable work done to the roads in the village during lockdown as far as we can see but then being so far away from the centre we cannot be sure whether there have been workers there or not.  What has been completed is nice and the village will look nice but at the moment it is a mess and quite hazardous to navigate.

We went to the cemetery.  The flowers at the end of Dad's grave are looking fabulous - I deadheaded the pinks in the trough and then started on the plant which Di and Rob had put there.  It is stunning but strangely there is one rogue all pink bloom in amongst all the others.

Mum had told me that Kaye and Ellie were organising a group WhatsApp video call where she could watch her great grandson Jack challenge Granny Kaye in a blueberry muffin baking challenge - I didn't realise I was going to be included so let's just say I didn't look my best!!  It was a real giggle watching the two of them making their cakes, Jack in Hull and Kaye in Balsall Common.  Anyway we had to judge on the winner and let's just say Granny Kaye was runner up!!

The Ration Book says...
Short on Hairspray?  A mixture of sugar and water would keep your hair in place!!
