Today the weather was different - it was due to change and we were due to have rain which we did but much later during the night so we decided to take advantage of the cool morning to get some painting done which was on our trusty To-Do list.
Today we were wanting to get the plinth done outside the pump house and the patchy bit of wall at Wendy and Bill Corner.
It is amazing what a lift a bit of paint can give. We have plans for the garden space by the pump house - we are thinking of decking as we have done around the garden and John is trying to solve the conundrum of how to provide some shade by means other than a brolly that will look aesthetically pleasing!!!
Since we got rid of the dining table and chairs here (the second hand 20 euro set which was only supposed to be there for our anniversary but which stayed for a whole lot longer) and replaced them with a sofa and two chairs we seem to use it much more than we did.
It is lovely at the end of a busy day to sit here and have a drink. The pump house houses our big fridge freezer so the drinkies are there on tap and we generally get the last of the sunshine coming over the top of the house.
We earmarked this afternoon for a trip to the cemetery and some shopping. Dad's row is now complete - all the graves have their permanent surrounds and it all looks lovely, neat and tidy. Sadly the hot weather and the absence of my chief waterer Klaus has wreaked havoc on the plants - fortunately the pinks in the trough were salvageable but sadly the lovely plant which Di and Rob put there and which was looking so lovely the other day was burnt to a crisp and so we were going to head off to the nursery at Ayia Mariana to find a replacement.

The nursery was all very organised with regard to the rules for shopping, sanitising and social distancing and we were given a very warm welcome.
We chose a plant for the grave and then I saw a lovely selection of grasses and as I want to turn the garden outside the kitchen window into an 'oriental' garden I thought some grasses would be good and John agreed and we also managed to find a pot that would be suitable to make a little water feature but we need to find a small solar pump for it.
It being Friday I am absolved from cooking and as we have done for the last few weeks we were having a takeaway from The Farmyard. Even though restrictions have been lifted we are taking no chances and so John goes out looking like the Dandy Highwayman!!! We were starving and couldn't wait.
This week we rang the changes with our main course but stuck to the Chicken Satay which is absolutely fabulous if not just about on the edge of the spiciness we can cope with - a real sort of pleasure pain thing for us!!! We order two starters, two rice, two mains and one lot of crackers and this does us for two nights. The kung po was super hot too but lovely and we really enjoyed it.
We had a lovely phone call today from George and Pam. It is so good to hear from them. As with Lakis and Argy they are monitoring the situation carefully and hope that they might still be able to come out this year even if it is later than they had hoped - we have our fingers crossed xx
