2nd June

I left John this morning doing some DIY.  He was painting the porch outside the backdoor.  It was too high for me to reach so I didn't feel too guilty!  The lockdown has meant we have finally got round to tackling all sorts of things which we have been meaning to do but not got round to and the weather is not too hot for being outside working.  Here the lockdown is being relaxed quite quickly, we are not sure what we think about that because in the last couple of days the numbers of new cases have risen from 0 to 6 which isn't massive but is probably only a fraction of what is actually happening .  We have just decided that we need to continue to be careful.

We have been keeping in contact with Isobel by doing her shopping and generally making sure she is holding things together.  She is doing really well all things considered but she is a bit under the weather at the moment - I think it is stress so we just try and keep her spirits up.  She was worried about how she was going to manage to colour her hair as David had always done it in the past so I offered to do it for her although I was terrified I would cock it up and she would end up with green hair.  I left her before seeing the end result but she assured me that all was well.

This afternoon we went over to drop off some post which we had picked up for Sheila and Klaus - I had been over to see their new home before lockdown but then they hadn't moved in so it was empty.  John had not been before so he was keen to see where they were living.  It is brilliant to see both Sheila and Klaus looking relaxed and happy in their Villa Garden - it was so the right move for them even though we miss them not being in the village.

We spent a lovely hour or so sat outside in their garden - properly socially distanced around the large circular table that they have with a nice 'bandstand' over the top.  We left with an invitation to join them for Sunday lunch in a couple of week's time with Mum and a bag full of the best oranges we have tasted in a very long time.  We have agreed that we will see how things go before resuming our art mornings and we are more than happy with that.

This evening we did venture out into the big wide world to have an evening meal with Di and Rob at Fitos.  It was a lovely evening (although blooming cold for June!).  The food was fabulous as always and it was nice to be able to catch up under relatively normal circumstances.  We were well distanced from other diners and the staff were wearing masks but I didn't see anyone come in and use the hand sanitiser.  Sadly we didn't see Eva the resident cat - we are hoping someone has taken her in during the lockdown period.
