Last night a photograph came from Persephone - Charlie loves to go down there and see what little soupçon of deliciousness she has in store for him. It looks as though there is quite a houseful at 1b at the moment so I am guessing she is happy that the bedroom extension is well underway. The cube is growing on me now that it has been plastered and had the windows and door put in and Savvas's garden has softened the edges.
I am glad that Persephone lets me know if Charlie is with them when it is late at night because then I don't have to worry about his whereabouts - I wish Minnie would let us know where she skulks off too because then I could relax a bit more when she is not on our bed at bedtime. For the last couple of nights she has gone somewhere and does not come back to the call and then just appears.
This morning I had a text from Nicky - Charlie had gone across to share his knowledge of pool maintenance with Mark. Clearly two heads are better than one in this respect. I then had a text from her to say she though Charlie was on his way home complete with a mouse but he must have taken it somewhere else as a snackette - thank goodness!!
After a break of many months (for one reason or another) we have finally been able to get Sheila and Klaus up here for Sunday Lunch and we were thrilled to see them - they are both looking absolutely brilliant and clearly love their move to Goudi.
Lunch was a fraught time for me because neither my oven nor my microwave oven were working properly. The microwave oven kept switching off after a couple of minutes and my proper oven has been a nightmare for ages because once the shelves get hot they warp and then fall off the runners and they did so when I had a big dish of roast potatoes in hot fat and I ended up burning my arm.
I did manage to produce a meal - I can't say I was overly impressed with what I served up but Klaus seemed to really enjoy it and had seconds so it couldn't have been too bad because Klaus is a really good cook. The fresh beans I had picked up yesterday were not as nice as they looked and the Cypriot peas were a bit like bullets and my sauce was over salty as I had used a stock cube and I don't normally for that exact reason.
All that aside we had a really nice afternoon and it was good for Mum to have some different company to chat to especially whilst I was trying to set the kitchen on fire.
We didn't do very much after Mum went home. John watched a crap film whilst I sorted the entries out for the weekly challenge and the winners of the previous week. That usually takes up an hour or so every Sunday after the closing time of 8.00pm here (6.00pm in the UK).
