Over the next few days the weather is cooling, in fact up in the hills (which could include Droushia) tomorrow, rain is forecast - I hope if we do get any it is tomorrow as we have invited Rob and Di to come and eat with us tonight and we want to eat outside.
I had planned a curry (the Bobster likes a curry) and we four are getting together as an early celebration for John's birthday as we will be spending the actual day with Mum. I was horrified to see that I had used up my trusty Curry Frenzy Onion Bhaji mix which guarantees that you produce curry house type bhajis every time and so I had to find another recipe and I don't think it was as good as they seemed heavy and although I had put in extra spices and chili didn't have the zing the others have. They looked ok though but by the time we ate it was getting dark so no-one could see them!!
I had a bit of an issue with the Naan breads too. The yeast mix did its stuff and the dough rose beautifully but they were a nightmare to roll out and kept sticking and ripping. Eventually between us we managed to produce enough but the first couple could have doubled as the soles for flip flops!!! On the plus side the poppadoms were fabulous and cooked perfectly in the microwave - just 40 seconds apiece after giving them a dampen down with some water.
Eventually I had everything ready. Pickles, Poppadoms and Kachumber (Indian tomato, onion and coriander salad) to start followed by Chicken Nawabi Curry with Lime and Coriander Rice and home-made Naans. We decided to chance it and eat outside. It was considerably cooler and quite a lot damper than of late but actually it came as a nice bit of respite from the very hot evenings we have had for the last few weeks.
I did take a photograph of our guests but as I want us to remain friends I am not going to include it in this post. I thought it was ok but Di doesn't have her eyes open and Rob looks like a man possessed as the light is reflecting in his and he looks well spooky!!!
The food seemed to go down very well. Everyone that has tried the Nawabi curry has liked it - it is really tasty without being blow your head off hot. It was a good job I hadn't planned for us to eat it again the next day as we had very little left over!!! That is always a good sign though.
It was a lovely evening and Di managed to negotiate her way home without injury even though she was wearing the shoes which caused her to tumble when we were walking home one night.

One bit of sad news - not only is my sister not coming over at the end of the month but she lives in an area which is to be included in the new Birmingham lockdown restrictions which come into force on Tuesday. I feel so sorry for her as things had just started to relax enough for her to have some more regular contact with her family.
