Quite a bit of work followed by a bit of play...

We are on a definite roll - working in the garden is the place to be and that is where our day started.  My mission was to clear the glory hole and that is exactly what I did - this is the place where we store 'stuff' - 'stuff' which simply will not go anywhere else!  Lurking in the depths were a Cypriot barbeque, a wheelbarrow, a cat cage and cat litter tray complete with litter and scoop and various flowerpots in various shapes and sizes.  It got cleared and the hedge trimmed back and just the barbeque and wheelbarrow returned.  Oh my good God it is so cathartic!!!

John shot off to the woodyard to order the wood that he wants to cover the wall where we have taken the mealy-bug infested ivy down.   He has a plan and he wants to make sure it is aesthetically pleasing!

The glory hole tidying spurred me on to start elsewhere so my Shed was the next target and the Droushia Cat population will benefit from things which we sorted out as Irene can have the items for her market stall.

This evening we were taking our neighbours out.  This was to be our treat as a 'farewell' to Kia who is due to take up residence in the local residential home in Prodromi.  She is now nearly 92 and showing increasing signs of confusion.  She has lived with Lakis and Argy for years and they have made the painful decision that she requires more professional care than they can give and because of language difficulties a home in the UK was not an option.

Fortunately Kia has one son who lives on the island and her daughter Argy and other son Philip are regular visitors to Droushia so will be nearby and John and I go down to shop a couple of times a week so can call in to see her.  It is all a bit strange for everyone concerned - we know that - we are just around to lend our support and that was what tonight was about - had tomorrow not been a bank holiday Kia would have gone tomorrow.

We had chosen to go to Kyparissos in Kathikas. That taverna has been there for years and years.  When we used to drive from Chlorakas to Pomos that used to be our half way stop off point!!  John and I have not eaten there for years but recently they have given it a facelift and on a Sunday when they do souvla it is heaving.

In spite of the circumstances we had a lovely evening.  The taverna is very traditional so not really one which we would visit with Mum as the menu would be too limited and sadly we were the only ones there although we did eat very early compared to typical residents.

We had the most fabulous selection of home made breads to accompany our meal - too much to be fair but all of it delicious - the Greek pittas were just wonderful as was the brown bread which had been toasted and then drizzled with olive oil and herbs.

There is a nice lounge bar area where, when the weather is favourable, you can get a fabulous sunset.  Tonight was not that night!!!  We didn't do in there because we weren't having pre or after dinner drinks but it looks really nice and is tastefully decorated.

We were home early because we had noticed, just before we went out, that Boris had a poorly foot.  He appears to have either cut it or have something in it - we cannot be sure but he is vocal and limping which is not good and he is a martyr to an abscess.
