Date Night

Oh Lord I must be mental - I am playing pickleball again today and we will only have four players, me and John, John and Keith - tomorrow I am going to be fit for nothing!!!

We were off down to Emba to have lunch with Mum before playing and halleluiah she now has a complete set of gnashers top and bottom and they seem to be fitting well and not causing her any issues.  I know she will be very happy to have this sorted after such a long time.  She had also been to have a flu jab after deciding against it for many years.  We were pleased she had changed her mind because they are saying that people with the flu jab are better protected against Covid-19 and with the numbers on the island spiking sharply we want to make sure that Mum is protected as best we can.

There is to be a further announcement about restrictions on the island after a meeting of the relevant ministers on Saturday.  We would not be surprised to be issued with a curfew at the very least but are anticipating another lockdown in some form or another before Christmas.  The situation seems to be escalating all over the world and it is quite scary.

Anyway back to lunch and we had beans on toast which was great although I still think I could have eaten just a little earlier as it was sitting quite heavy as I ran round the court.  It was a very enjoyable session but blooming hard work and Keith and I, having played yesterday, were almost on our knees by the end of it!!

Friday night during lockdown was takeaway night but currently it is our 'Date Night'.  I had chili prepared with a nacho topping and a salad which was ready and waiting for us when we got home so we had a quick shower and change and then got ourselves ready for a nice night in.  I actually managed to stay awake for the whole of a film which is unheard of!!!  I had chosen a film called 'Date Night' and it was an easy to watch comedy which passed away an hour and a half before we called it a day and retired to bed with our tablets to catch up on the events of the day.  It must be colder as the cats are now generally in with us in the evening and Charlie has even sought refuge in one of the cat beds!!

I plan to do some gardening tomorrow.  I have a bag of compost and some plants needing repotting and some seeds that need sewing.  The forecast for the next few days is for the temperatures to rise again so maybe still a bit too early to cut back the clock vine which is in full bloom still.
