This mackerel sky was captured by my neighbour Belinda and was taken from her garden. This sort of weather condition generally indicates bad weather on its way and it wasn't wrong.
I was going down to see Mum today (it being Wednesday and we still being in our current lockdown restrictions). I set off early as I wanted to go to a couple of shops before I got to her.
We have Costas and Jackie coming on Sunday for lunch (along with Mum) and I wanted to call into Tsada to get my vegetables. I know that Jackie loves her veg so to accompany my chicken casserole I wanted a variety. I managed to get everything I wanted including just about the nicest little cauliflower you could wish for and when I came to pay the added bonus was that there was 30% off of everything!!!
At Tsada I encountered rain - it was grey and grim and barely daylight all day but it is November after all, so we have to expect some indifferent days.
I got my veggies and I called into Ikoagora and got some cat food in gravy because we need to try and wean Boris and Minnie off of pig's liver because the outbreak of Covid at an abattoir in Nicosia had compromised the supply of some meat.
Mum and I did some shopping together and I helped her finish her current jigsaw and I also managed to get a programme on her TV Box that will enable her to watch series and films and loaded it up with a number of things which I thought she might enjoy watching.
I was gutted to notice that Mum already had a DVD boxed set of The Darling Buds of May and I had bought her that for Christmas (and wrapped it) so I needed to have a rethink on that score. Christmas is fast creeping up on us and I am nowhere near prepared. The situation that we find ourselves in means that access to shopping is restricted and it is difficult to actually get enthusiastic about a celebration when everything seems so bleak.
I have got a few bits and pieces for Mum which hopefully she will like and John is going to have a few parcels of tools courtesy of Lidl and I am waiting for a couple of things to be delivered but we have been warned that post is up the creek at the moment - even more so than normally at this time of year because there are so few flight going in and out of the island to carry the post. I don't want or need anything save for all our friends and family and pets to be safe and well - a bit of a cliche I know but really as long as we have enough to live a nice life (and we do) what more do I/we need?
On my return I asked John to help me get some photograph together for the current challenge which is SWEETS and which seems to be flummoxing people because I haven't had anything come in so far which is unusual.
I am guessing everyone must be on a diet - thank goodness we are not as I purchased a Celebrations Box from Paps earlier in the week and in the interests of art John tackled the quality control aspect with gusto!!!
Not much more to report about today. There is to be a meeting of the Government today to discuss the restrictions as the current ones are in place until Monday - I have a sneaky suspicion that things are not going to be lifted hugely. It doesn't really affect us too much as we are more than ok the way things are - as we are early to bedders the 8pm curfew is fine by us!!! Blimey what a rock 'n roll lifestyle we lead (NOT).
Caught up on the current episode of The Undoing tonight - really enjoying it BUT still cannot get my head around Nicole Kidman's altered face - she looks dreadful and it is distracting me. Hugh Grant, on the other hand, is playing the Baddy to perfection and has become quite attractive as a result!
