This lockdown is nothing like the last lockdown so apart from the fact we cannot go inside to eat and drink (but we can get take-aways) the only thing which is a bit of a pain is the 8pm curfew - last time it was 9pm - anyway it doesn't really matter as it is dark by about 5pm at the moment anyway and we quite like to be hunkered down by then anyway.
I had a bit of a cookathon this morning as I wanted to be organised for the weekend. It is Friday but without pickleball it just felt like any other week day. Friday normally means date night but we hadn't earmarked anything to watch and we got a text this morning from Nicky and Mark asking if we wanted to pop over for a drink this evening so we said we would as although they are just at the end of our path we really don't get to see them much!!!I had scoured the freezer, fridge and cupboards to take a look at what needed to be eaten up so we are having a chicken-fest this weekend - tonight a sort of enchilada type thing with chicken and peppers and some wraps that have been hanging about for a while.
Tomorrow we are having a chicken, green bean and pesto pasta dish as I have some beans left over from last weekend - they are not my favourite but I am not going to chuck them even though they too have seen better days. Sunday we are having a chicken, bacon and leek casserole type thing - I hope Mum remembers to bring the potatoes!!!
We had a bit of unwelcome excitement whilst I was cooking. One minute Mr Boo was snoozing on his blinkie making the most of some winter sunshine and the next minute he came into the kitchen and started to throw up. On closer inspection we realised that he had chucked up the remains of a snake!!! The head was complete as were sections of its body. We cannot be entirely sure which type of snake it had been but we could tell it wasn't a viper (thankfully). We had to keep an eye on him for the remainder of the day just to make sure he was ok and he was.
Nicky had invited us round to share in her good fortune. She had won a competition on-line for a gin hamper which included three new gins which are made here on the island and go under the brand name of Soli. The pink is cherry, the blue is the sort of standard London-type gin and the black a special brew. The hamper came with all sorts of goodies including two lovely gin glasses. We had planned to play cards but we were far too busy catching up and sampling the gins for there to be enough time and get home before 8pm. I think the Jury was out on the alcohol - they are certainly a different taste to what we are used to but the evening was lovely and we were home before 8pm and in bed by 9pm!!
