A Walk and then a Change of Plan

We said goodbye to Mum yesterday only to find that her bags and coat were still sitting in the bedroom which was my fault as I had thought John had packed them in the car.  Anyway it wasn't a problem really as I had decided that I would go down and see her on Wednesday splitting the week up before she came up on Sunday for lunch as is the norm.  Well that was the plan...

It was a glorious day and it was Tuesday so as has been our routine now for a fair few weeks the girlies were walking.

Three of us assembled outside the Farmyard, Rachel, Nicky and me and I had used my neat little Kamoot app to plot a circular walk which took us along the back of the Farmyard and Fitos's then crossing the road and around the edge of Arodes and then out into the wilds near the Winery before tracking back uphill to Kathikas.

I could only tell my amigas the distance of the walk which was about 10Km and I could tell them the direction we were taking but not the amount of hills we would be navigating although Kamoot does tell you the total amount of uphill we would complete and the total amount of downhill (which you would expect to be the same but sometimes isn't).  So off we went tracking through vineyards on slightly rough roads but it was so glorious and the views were so amazing.

We had a lot to talk about - Christmas had taken place since the last time we walked after all!!!  That meant there was food and gifts and films and all sorts to get through on our 10Km and that makes the walk go quicker - even the uphills although I am not sure that Nicky would agree with me!!!  When she is having a moan we say at least we know she is still with us!!

There were some real WOW moments as we encountered vistas we had never imagined were right on our doorstep and we had pushed ourselves and felt all the better for it.  We completed our hike feeling a real sense of achievement and returned home all ready to face the lead-up to New Year's Eve only to have any plans we had dashed by an announcement by the President that stricter restrictions were to be imposed from 6pm this evening.  Basically we cannot mingle save for New Year's Eve and then the numbers are limited and the curfew pushed back (although I have no idea if the Covid Virus is aware that it wont be a threat during that time!).

So although we didn't have any plans for New Year's Eve these changes meant that I couldn't go to Mum's on Wednesday and she will not be able to come up to us until the restrictions are lifted which is hopefully January 10th.  That meant I had to shoot down to meet up with her this afternoon to hand over the things she had left with us.

Got home only to find that Charlie was unwell.  The ear that got injured and we thought was healing had developed an abscess that burst - there was blood and guff everywhere and he was quite distressed.  Nothing for it but a trip to the vets tomorrow.
