An early Happy Birthday to Kia

This morning John shot off with Les to help him take his two pushbikes from Droushia to their apartment because they are in the way and not being used.  I took the opportunity to get out and headed for the garden centre at Agia Marina so that I could chose something to go on Dad's grave and to get something to give Kia as it is her birthday on Wednesday - she is supposed to be going to spend some time in Limassol with her son so we wanted to get her card and present to her in advance.

The garden centre looked absolutely superb.  They have really made a beautiful job of their Christmas display and I was able to chose a really lovely arrangement with a candle in the middle which Mum, John and I can take down to the grave.  I also got a lovely Poinsettia which they gift wrapped and sprayed and sparkled.

I went to the residential centre in Prodromi and they allowed me to step into the inner foyer and Kia came to the door and socially distanced I passed over her card and plant and with the help of the lovely nursing assistant managed to make myself understood.  I think with the mask and the glasses and because she didn't know I was coming, Kia was a bit thrown by it all.  She seemed quite happy and was smiling so that was really nice to see.

I didn't get to see much beyond the foyer but it looks to be a lovely clean and bright establishment and as the sun was shining I could see the heads of people wandering around in the surrounding gardens.

I made my way back home stopping to check the post and picked up some for Rob and Di which I popped down before going home.  We have had very little post and we are waiting for a number of parcels not least one from John's Mum but as it is getting so close to Christmas and everything is getting more locked down I don't hold out much hope of anything arriving on time now.

We are now in Christmas Week proper and tonight Nicky and Mark were popping round for a drink and some nibbles and to play stupid games until the 9pm curfew - this suits us all fine as we are earlier to bed early to rise kind of people!!!  I had spent the afternoon trying to make cheese straws which were ok but not quite as I had anticipated and Nicky was bringing some of her home made pork pie and with the egg wash left over from the cheese straws I made some Yorkshire puddings and stuffed them with some pulled pork.

We do not exchange gifts but in recognition of their first Christmas here in Droushia I had got one of Rhi-Rhi's fabulous handmade Christmas decorations made and personalised for them to hang on their tree and they seemed to like it!  We played a fairly riotous game of Taboo girlies v boys and soon realised that female brains are wired completely differently to men - Nicky and I were so much more in tune than John and Mark and we always reckon they are very similar!
